Biology class dragged on slowly. They were doing a group assignment today, and he found himself paired with none other than Elora. He reluctantly took a seat beside her, feeling a mix of annoyance and anticipation.
They worked silently for a moment, the tension between them palpable. He kept stealing glances at her, trying to gauge her reaction to being so close together. But she remained focused on their project, her face betraying no emotion.
"Pass me the humerus"
He grabbed the bone she asked for and passed it to her, their fingers briefly grazing each other. He couldn't help but notice how she didn't react to the brief contact, her focus entirely on the task at hand.
He couldn't believe that she could be so unaffected by their proximity. It was driving him crazy. He was used to girls blushing and stuttering in his presence, but she was so calm and composed. It was like an insult to his ego.
"Why do we have to use something non living. I say we use something alive, care to volunteer? " he suggested.
She looked up at him with amusement, her eyes gleaming. "You're really trying hard to get a reaction out of me, aren't you?"
He shrugged, leaning back in his chair. "Just trying to spice things up a bit. Wouldn't want biology class to be completely boring, would you?"
She raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at her lips. "Who says biology needs to be spiced up? It's fascinating on its own merit."
"I wanna see something in real life"
She rolled her eyes at his words. "Of course you do. Can't you take anything seriously for once? We're trying to get our work done, not provide you with entertainment."
He shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh come on. You can't blame me for wanting a little excitement in my life. Biology class isn't exactly the most thrilling experience, you know."
"Have you always been this talkative"
He feigned feigned hurt, placing a hand over his heart. "Are you saying I talk too much? I'm wounded, really."
She couldn't help but laugh at his dramatic display. "You know what I mean. You always have to be the center of attention, don't you? Can't just sit quietly and work like a normal person."
He leaned in closer, his gaze fixed on her intently. "Normal is overrated, sweetheart. I prefer to stand out."
She leaned back slightly, trying to maintain some distance. "And I prefer not to have you in my personal space all the time," she retorted, her tone laced with annoyance.
He smirked, enjoying the way he was getting under her skin. "Oh, come on. You can't deny that you secretly enjoy my company. I have a certain charm that's hard to resist, you know?"
She scoffed, pushing his face away with her hand. "Trust me, your so-called 'charm' is not working on me. I can see through your act. You're just a self-absorbed player who's used to getting whatever he wants."
He chuckled, clearly amused by her comment. "I admire your defiance, I really do. Most girls would be falling at my feet by now, but you're different. You know how to keep me on my toes."
"Oh, please," she said, rolling her eyes again. "Don't flatter yourself. I just have better taste than to get swept up in your little charm offensive."
"Besides, I've dated better" Elora obviously lied
His eyes widened in mock shock, playfully feigning disbelief. "Oh, really now? Well, do tell me about these supposed 'better' guys you've dated. I'm all ears."
