Rika flicked a stray fishbone off her plate and sighed. Another day, another fish dish. Grilled, smoked, stewed—it didn't matter. It was always fish. It was practical, abundant, and full of nutrients, but to her, it had become utterly exhausting.
She glanced around the dining area of the Kingdom of Science. Workers and elders alike ate their meals without complaint. To them, survival and efficiency were paramount. But Rika wasn't just an engineer—she was a person who craved variety, who sought innovation even outside of machines.
"This is getting ridiculous." She tapped her fork against her plate, eyeing the dried fish and seaweed stew with distaste. "If I have to eat this for another week, I might start preferring starvation."
"Rika, if you don't want it, I'll take it." Kaseki grinned, his appreciation for food unwavering.
She rolled her eyes. "That's not the point."
And yet, she casually gave her untouched fill to Kaseki.
Senku, seated across from her, lifted an eyebrow. "Science doesn't run on an empty stomach, Rika."
"Oh, I know. That's exactly why we need someone who can actually cook."
"I'm a good cook, Rika." Ruri offered as she smiled tenderly, eating her food gracefully. Rika, despite being brutally honest, does not even want to open her mouth for fear of hurting a very kind and beautiful woman like Ruri. She just smiled at her. "Course you do, darling... course you do."
Kinro, suddenly looked up from his meal, curious. "Didn't we try making bread? And the ramen? And Ryusui's obsession with food improvements?"
"Ramen's so good!" Ginro beside him was ogling and drooling over his imagination as Suika nodded in agreement.
"More like goo." Rika shrugged. "Ryusui just wants luxurious meals. I want something edible that isn't just another variation of fish."
Senku smirked. "Big talk from someone who's still eating it."
