Scarlett didn't watch his movies. She avoided interviews, pretended she didn't see his face on magazine covers. She moved back to North Carolina, took a job at a small publishing house, told herself she was okay.
Some days, she believed it.
But then, late at night, she'd catch herself staring at her phone, his number still saved under Always. She never called. And he never did either.
Maybe he had moved on. Maybe he had someone else to fill the spaces she left behind.
She told herself that was a good thing.
Lying was easier than the truth.
