The sun beamed down from the heavens as Cyan stood in front of her locker. Everyone seemed to be bubbly and excited for the game where her legs seemed to shake even as she stood and to make matters worse, she had to listen to Audrey's complaining which was why she had an energy drink in her hand.
The reason why Audrey seemed upset was because of her hair, or not hers but everyone else's hair. Mal seemed to be doing everyone's hair and school, Cyan was happy for them. The girls all seemed to feel more confident but Audrey didn't feel the same way.
"Are you even listening to me?" Audrey slammed the girl's locker shut which took Cyan out of her own mind. "Don't do that again." She warned as she leaned against her locker.
"And you have my full attention." She mustered a smile onto her face.
"I just don't like her." Audrey seemed to be staring daggers at Mal from afar who was too occupied in her conversation with Jay to notice.
"I'm not her biggest fan either." When the words left Cyan's lips, thunder seemed to rumble in the sunny sky when she heard someone say her name.
"I can't handle bad weather, my hair will be ruined." She turned and saw Chad and Ben approaching them.
"This is my cue." She started walking away but Ben called her back and for some strange reason, she could never turn her back on him. "Yes, Ben Ten." She faced him with a smile.
"We need clear skies for the game." He reminded her and she sighed as the thunder slowly came to an end. She was never really good at controlling her powers.
"I'm okay," she told him, a smile on her lips as she took another sip of her drink. Audrey and Chase took that as their chance to go back to complaining.
"Those kids are trouble," Chad complained as he hit Ben's chest or tried to when Cyan caught his hand.
"Come on, Chad. Give them a chance." Ben gave a warm smile as he moved Cyan's hand away from Chad. Last time that happened she ended up breaking his wrist.
Audrey let out a fake giggle which didn't seem to surprise Cyan at all. "No offence, Bennybear, but you're just too trusting. I know your mom fell in love with a big nasty beast that turned into a prince-" Audrey was cut short.
"And didn't yours fall in love with a man that kissed her in her sleep?" She asked and Audrey gasped as Cyan held her hands up in surrender as she handed her drink to Ben.
"Sorry, that was unnecessarily rude, just like you." And with that she turned on her heels and walked away. Despite what Chad and Audrey wanted, she still approached Mal.
"Hey there, danger." She smiled and Mal shut her locker.
"Ranger." She looked over at Cyan who rested against the locker beside Mal's.
"I heard you've been doing gateway magic," Cyan watched as the girl took something out of her locker.
Mal shook her head, "I've actually just been busy making these." She held out a small bag with a cookie inside.
Cyan's eyes widened, "I'm throwing all my childhood lessons out of the window, can I have that please?" She knew it was wrong to take things from strangers but she didn't really care at that point. After her hike yesterday, she was starving.
"This one was made just for you," Mal handed it over and Cyan opened the bag, the smell hitting her like a wave. "You are a life saver." Cyan would be busy writing a piece about the game all day so she needed this.
"Have a taste." Mal watched as the girl took a bite out of the cookie, "Honest reviews only." She added and Cyan chewed on the cookie. It was still a little warm, as if it had just come out of the oven.
"It's actually pretty good." She smiled as she went for another bite but Mal took it back, placing it in the bag. "We don't wanna spoil your appetite." She said as she slid the bag back into her locker. She didn't miss the way Evie, Jay and Carlos seemed to move closer.
"How do you feel?" Jay rested a hand on her shoulder and she tried to face him but her gaze seemed fixated on Mal. "I'm good." The raven haired girl licked some of the crumbs off her fingers.
Cyan opened her mouth to say something but she seemed to be at a loss of words, that was new. "I'm good." Her hand seemed to have a mind of its own because she found herself playing with a strand of Mal's curly hair.
"Your eyes, they're so green." She could vaguely see Jayden behind Evie but she didn't seem to care.
"I know." Mal smiled at her and Cyan found her heart melting. "Merlin, you are beautiful." Before Cyan could utter another word, Jayden spoke up.
"Let's go, simp." She grabbed Cyan but the denim of her jacket as she pulled her friend away who couldn't stop looking at Mal as she walked away.
"What was that all about?" Jayden had a furrow between her brows which was never good. She was never the one to worry first.
"I'm good, that hike just took a lot out of me." Cyan cleared her throat when she found herself grabbing a hold of Jayden. "I think I'm gonna be sick." And with that the two girls ran to the bathroom.
Cyan seemed to empty out the continents of her stomach, leaned over the toilet while Jayden held her hair back. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
"Remind me to never eat anything Mal gives me." The curly haired girl said as her friend looked up at her, flushing the toilet while Jayden wiped her mouth.
"I have no idea what just happened." Cyan struggled to get onto her feet. "But I'm pretty sure I was just drugged." She had enough mushrooms in her life to know what it felt like to be under the influence of something.
Jayden walked out of the stall first, "Mal drugged you?" She watched as the girl rinsed her mouth. "I'm guessing it was a love cookie or something." She wiped the sweat off her brows as she looked over at her oldest friend.
"What are you gonna do about it?" Jayden asked and by the look on Cyan's face, she knew that she didn't want to know.
