real life
Halloween at Hogwarts was always an event, but this year, Ava was determined to have a good time. No drama, no gossip, no Potter-related nonsense—just a night of fun with her friends, looking hot as hell and drinking far too much stolen firewhiskey.

Which was why, at this very moment, she, Maeve, and Jaimie were in their dorm, putting the finishing touches on their perfect costumes.

"I still think we're the hottest group at this party," Jaimie declared, twisting her body in front of the mirror to admire their outfits.

Ava smirked. "That's because we are."

They had chosen to go as Greek goddesses—but not the cliché, flowy white dresses everyone always imagined. No, their costumes were dark, powerful, and otherworldly, inspired by the more mythological, divine versions of the gods.

Ava, as Nyx, goddess of the night, wore a flowing, slit-up-to-there black gown with tiny constellations embroidered in silver thread. Her dark makeup was smoky and smudged perfectly, and she had wrapped a sheer black cape around her shoulders that shimmered like the night sky when she moved.

Maeve, as Hecate, goddess of magic and witchcraft, wore deep purple and gold, the fabric shifting like smoke around her as she moved. Gold jewelry wrapped around her arms and fingers, and her hair was braided with tiny charms that jingled softly whenever she turned her head.

Jaimie, as Eris, goddess of chaos and strife, had gone for something more dramatic—golden armor pieces over a short, dark red dress, her hair wild, eyes lined with sharp kohl, lips painted deep crimson. She looked like she was ready to start a war.

"I swear, if we don't get at least three confessions of undying love tonight, I'll be disappointed," Jaimie said, grinning.

"Undying love is overrated," Maeve teased, adjusting her rings. "Temporary worship is much more fun."

Ava laughed, finishing the last curl in her hair before turning to Maeve. "You're actually bringing your tarot deck to a party?"

"Obviously," Maeve scoffed. "What kind of witch would I be if I didn't? Besides, people love getting their cards read when they're drunk. It makes everything so much more dramatic."

"She's right," Jaimie added. "Last year, some Ravenclaw nearly cried when Maeve pulled The Tower for him. Thought his life was literally falling apart."

Maeve grinned. "I mean... it probably was."

Ava shook her head, smirking. "You two are absolute menaces."

"And yet, you love us." Maeve winked, stuffing her tarot deck into a tiny velvet pouch.

Ava just rolled her eyes fondly, adjusting her cape one last time before stepping back and admiring their reflection in the mirror.

They looked powerful. Mysterious. Untouchable.

"Alright, goddesses," Jaimie said, throwing an arm around both of them. "Let's go make this party ours."
