The bus came to a stop with a hiss of brakes and the groan of weary suspension. Trees stretched high overhead, casting shadows over the narrow cliffside.
"Alright, everyone off!" Mandalay called. "Welcome to the Forest Training Camp!"
Kyofu unfolded her wings and stretched as she stepped into the sunlight. Her body still ached from the final exam, but there was something refreshing about the crisp mountain air. It reminded her of freedom. And chaos.
Behind her, Kaminari was already squealing. "Dude! Look at this view! We're gonna train here? This is like summer camp meets boot camp!"
"More like hell in nature," Jiro muttered.
"Let's goooo!" Mina cheered, practically vibrating with excitement.
Kyofu barely had time to glance over her shoulder before Pixie-Bob clapped her hands and sent the ground crashing out from under them.
"Surprise training!"
Kyofu instinctively launched upward, wings flaring wide as her classmates tumbled toward the forest floor. She swooped through the air, dodging falling branches and quickly scanning for anyone who might need help—
And of course, Bakugo was free-falling like gravity didn't apply.
She didn't move to catch him.
He landed with a controlled explosion, smoke curling around him. When he looked up, she smirked.
"Nice of you to join us," she called.
"Tch. Wasn't worried."
She landed beside him with a light thud.
He didn't say thanks. She didn't expect him to.
The afternoon became a whirlwind of dirt, monsters, and pure exhaustion. Kyofu fought hard, wings slicing through the air, movement precise and ruthless. Hawks' training echoed in every punch.
That night, most of the class had already eaten and stumbled off to their cabins. Only a few remained around the fire: Todoroki quietly tending the flames, Yaoyorozu deep in a book, and Kyofu—sitting just outside the circle, picking at her rice.
Bakugo dropped beside her without a word.
She didn't look at him. Just handed him a bottle of water.
"You kept overheating today," he said bluntly.
"I noticed," she muttered.
"You gonna pass out again?"
She snorted. "Only if I want you to catch me."
He rolled his eyes and took a sip. "You're not subtle, you know."
