It was incredibly weird – waking up alone in their shared bedroom, knowing that Sun Ah was home, just in a different room, waking up by herself as well.
They've been married for twelve years and they've always slept together. The only exception was when one of them was away on business, but it hardly ever happened. They usually went to sleep together and every single day that Yo Han woke up, she was always there by his side.
It felt odd and a bit sad. On the other hand – he kinda liked it, because he could sleep better that way, without worrying about anything.
When he went to the kitchen after he got dressed, he was foolishly hoping that maybe he'd meet Sun Ah there, but that wasn't the case. Who he did see, was Elijah.
"Morning," he said simply and walked to the coffee machine.
"Did you have a fight with Sun Ah?" Elijah asked him right away. It's exactly like her to be incredibly perceptive.
"Why would you ask that?" He frowned at her.
"She slept in the guest room upstairs. Actually, I wouldn't just say that she slept there, she moved a lot of her things there," Elijah explained. "What's going on?"
He didn't want to worry his niece with his own problems, especially if it was about to affect her in any way. He decided to be honest though.
"Yes, we had a fight," Yo Han admitted. "We've been having... problems, so we decided to take some time away from each other."
Elijah scoffed at that. "But you're away from each other all the time. You both work all the time!" She pointed out the obvious.
"Well, we still see each other," Yo Han said. "It seems like we both need to think about some stuff, alone."
She eyed him suspiciously, thinking of what to say. "And what's the reason for this separation? What was the fight about?" She asked curiously.
"I don't want to bore you with it," Yo Han simply said, honestly not in the mood.
"Was it about you two, or about someone else?" Elijah asked then, and that got him thinking.
"What do you mean?" He frowned at her. "Who?"
"Okay, so that's a no," Elijah simply nodded and turned away from him. "Okay, whatever. It's not like it's going to affect me in any way, since the both of you are never home anyway. Maybe this way I'll get to spend more time with Ga On."
"Wait," Yo Han stopped her, seeing as she wanted to leave the room. "Did Ga On come see you yesterday?"
"He did," she nodded. "He was here basically the whole day. I'm surprised you let him come for so long," she said then, raising her eyebrows, amused.
"I didn't want you to be alone," Yo Han admitted.
"I'm always alone," Elijah shrugged.
"And I hope you know I feel bad about it," he said, actually starting to feel awful about it again. Yesterday's conversation with Sun Ah got him thinking about Elijah as well. She might not have the right to speak about Elijah, but maybe she was right, in a way. She's lonely, and it shows. She's at the house all the time, she doesn't have any friends. "Maybe... What if I drive you somewhere? Do you want to get out of the house once in a while?" He proposed.
Elijah looked taken aback. "Really? And do what?" She asked, stunned.
"Well, I have to go to work," he said, feeling bad again. "But I could drive you to Ji Woo, if you want. You like Ji Woo, right? She's home all the time."
It's the least he can do.
"That's actually a good idea," Elijah spoke, genuinely surprised with his suggestion. "But... Am I supposed to stay there until you're done with work?"
