The morning sunlight peeked through the curtains, dancing across the room as Freen stirred awake. She shifted slightly, her mind still groggy, but then she felt it—a hand resting lightly on her waist. Her eyes opened slowly, and as she turned her head, the events of the previous night came rushing back. Becky. Her vulnerability. The way Becky had held her, enveloping her in warmth when she needed it most.

Freen’s lips twitched into a faint smile as she watched Becky sleep. Her features were soft and peaceful, and for a moment, Freen simply let herself appreciate the sight. Leaning forward hesitantly, Freen pressed a gentle kiss to Becky’s forehead. “Thank you,” she whispered, though she knew Becky couldn’t hear her.

Carefully sliding out of bed so as not to disturb Becky, Freen made her way to the bathroom. After a long, refreshing shower, she dressed quickly and grabbed a notepad from her desk. Scribbling a quick note, she left it on the nightstand for Becky:

“Dear Becky, I have returned to my natural habitat (the hospital), where I shall resume my robotic tendencies. There is breakfast in the fridge. Kindly refrain from setting anything on fire. Efficiency is key. – Dr. Freen”

With one last glance at Becky, Freen left the apartment and headed to the hospital.

---

By the time Freen arrived at the hospital, she was back in her element. The calm, composed doctor everyone knew was firmly in place, and her routine resumed like clockwork. She spent the morning checking on patients and reviewing files, her sharp focus masking the thoughts swirling beneath the surface. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop thinking about Becky.

Her feelings for Becky hadn’t faded—in fact, they had only grown stronger. Freen knew she couldn’t keep them bottled up forever. And so, after finishing her rounds, she sent a message to Becky, asking her to meet in her office.

---

Becky knocked on Freen’s office door, pushing it open cautiously. “Hey,” she said, stepping inside. “What’s up?”

“Sit,” Freen said simply, gesturing to the chair across from her desk.

Becky raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “This sounds serious. Am I in trouble, Dr. Serious?”

Freen ignored the teasing and leaned forward, her hands clasped on the desk. “I have something important to discuss with you.”

“Okay…” Becky said slowly, her nerves beginning to creep in. “What is it?”

“I have purchased the restaurant where you worked,” Freen stated matter-of-factly.

Becky blinked, her confusion evident. “You… what?”

“The restaurant where you were humiliated,” Freen clarified. “It is now under my ownership.”

Becky stared at her, her mouth opening and closing as she tried to process the information. “Why would you do that?”

“Because it was unacceptable,” Freen replied, her tone calm. “No one should be treated that way. And because you deserve better.”

Becky frowned, shaking her head slightly. “Freen, I—”

“I am not finished,” Freen interrupted smoothly, her expression unchanging. “I have also arranged for you to train children in swimming. You are an excellent swimmer, and I believe this will bring you fulfillment.”

Becky leaned back in her chair, her emotions a mix of shock, gratitude, and hesitation. “Freen, this is… a lot. I don’t know if I can—”

“You can,” Freen interrupted again, her tone firm but not unkind. “And you will. Because you are capable. And because you deserve to reclaim what was taken from you.”

Becky let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. “You’re impossible.”

“Efficient,” Freen corrected automatically, earning a groan from Becky.

---

Their bickering continued for a few minutes, the tension easing slightly as Becky’s initial hesitation began to waver. Freen’s unwavering belief in her was both frustrating and comforting, and Becky found herself wondering if maybe—just maybe—she could do this.

But then Freen’s tone shifted, her voice quieter and filled with something deeper.

“Becky,” Freen began, her gaze locking onto hers. “I need to say something.”

Becky stilled, her heart skipping a beat. “What is it?”

“I am still in love with you,” Freen said, her voice steady. “No one—no one—can take my heart. It belongs to you. And I love Ben as well. He is as much a part of this as you are.”

Becky’s breath caught as the weight of Freen’s words settled over her. She opened her mouth to speak, but Freen continued.

“I will wait,” Freen said firmly. “Until Sunday. Three days. If you cannot let me in, I will leave.”

The room fell silent, the only sound Becky’s uneven breathing. Freen’s confession had been simple and direct, but it carried the weight of years’ worth of love, hope, and pain.

Becky looked down at her hands, her emotions churning. She didn’t know what to say, didn’t know how to process everything Freen had done for her, or the depth of her feelings. But one thing was clear: Freen wasn’t just asking for a chance. She was offering a future.
