It was what I was doing—what I'd been doing. Over and over again. Sacrificing myself, my morals, my sanity for someone else. For truth. For him. And now I had a bad feeling someone else will be the sarcrificed tonight.

It was a cruel word. A sick fucking word for this moment.

But it was right.

I looked at him again. His eyes locked onto mine. Even through the gag, even through the terror on his face, he knew I had it.

I nodded. He nodded back.

Time was slipping out of my hands.

00:11...

"Sacrifice," I said aloud, voice steady despite the shake crawling through my limbs.

00:10...

I repeated it louder. "SACRIFICE!"

00:09... 00:08...

The room was silent.

Too fucking silent.

00:07... 00:06...

Was it wrong?

00:05...

My throat tightened. My stomach turned.

00:04...

"Correct," the voice finally announced.

I exhaled—half-laugh, half-sob.

"Oh my fucking god," I muttered. "YES. Yes—thank fuck, I did it. I FUCKING DID IT—"

But the timer didn't stop.

00:03... 00:02...

"What...?" My voice broke.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I screamed. "I said the word! I FUCKING SAID IT!"

00:01...

I turned to Jun-ho.

He was staring back at me, eyes wide with realization. With fear.

00:00.

"Final result: Hangman did not complete in time."

WHAT?!

My jaw dropped. My body went ice cold.

"No—NO—NO!" I screamed, trying to rip out of the fucking straps holding me down.

Jun-ho's platform shifted. I heard the mechanical click.
The floor under his feet lowered an inch.

"STOP! FUCKING STOP! I GOT THE WORD! YOU PIECES OF SHIT!" I screamed so loud my voice cracked. Tears blurred my vision as I thrashed against the chair.

He was looking right at me. Eyes glassy. Gag soaked in spit. Hands behind his back.
No way to fight. No way to scream. Just watching me lose my fucking mind.

The red light above his head blinked.

"No. No. No. No, please. PLEASE," I begged, sobbing now. "You can't do this—In-ho, I know you're fucking watching—what the fuck is this?!"

I pounded my fists against the armrests.

Jun-ho blinked. One last long look.

And then—

The screen went black.

In fact... everything went black.

No sound. No movement. Not even my own fucking trembling breath echoed in the void around me.
