"You couldn't do that before. Right?" On asked still eyeing the ice that Hong started walking towards.
"No. This is new." Cale let the ice drop into the waiting hand of Hong who stared at the uneven ball of ice. Hong lifted the ice to his mouth and gave it a lick.
"Can I eat this?"
Cale squinted at the child holding the ice that was starting to drip. "Sure."
Hong beamed up at him and started to gnaw on the ice. "Ish veby shmoof" Hong mumbled with the blob still in his mouth.
"Um, okay! You three can have these now!" The god went to hand out the stuffed animals that suddenly appeared in his arms. "And now that we are on the topic of weapons! Want to try something fun?" Death placed the last stuffed animal, Hong's, next to the child trying to shove the ball of ice in his mouth.
"Not really, but if you are planning what I think you are, it would be better if it happens in your company."
"That's great! If you look down at your dominant wrist, if there is a mark there, you can summon a weapon." A loud crunch echoed throughout the room as Hong bit down on the ice.
Cale glanced at Hong, who was happily munching on the ice. As long as he's content. He looked under his right wrist and saw a little black crescent the side of his fingernail. "And this is?"
"That is where your weapon is summoned from. Most of the times those symbols shift, and if that is a moon it might show you the moon cycles, but I'm not certain. The symbol disappears when you summon your weapon."
"Can the weapon change?"
"The only thing that limits what you can make is your imagination. And also that you can't create a weapon with separate parts. You could make a bow and make the arrows with your ancient powers or something like that. Your weapon can also shift into different materials, like again with the bow, the string can stretch while the body won't."
I wonder what classifies as a weapon. Cale wondered. A thought of a not-really weapon came to mind and he held his hand out, palm out.
"...really?" Death stared at the rock Cale held in his hand. The rock was a deep black and about the size of two fists. Is it this since I attacked someone with it or because I imagined it? The rock shifted to a black plate, then a black fork, then an empty wine bottle made of black glass. So anything qualifies.
"That's... a unique approach. Not that it never happened, just no one thinks of stuff like that that quickly."
I thought it was an obvious train of thought, but okay. "What next?"
"Well," the god whipped out a clipboard from who knows where and checks it. "Do you see weird colours swirling around the air?"
"No?"
"No mana sight then." He crossed something off the list. "While we're at it, anything else different? Sight, smell, taste? Anything that's different."
Cale glanced around the room. I don't see anything differently. Everything smells the same, and I definitely don't taste anything new. "No. I don't sense anything else."
"Mmm," Death scribbled away at the clipboard, crossing maybe seven things off his list before he looked up. "Any cravings for human flesh?"
"Definitely not. Was that a possible side effect?"
"There was only two recorded cases and they both served the same god, so it was assumed that it was from him, but you can never be too careful. Do you feel like you have someone else in your head?" Cale stared deadpan at him. "Okay, you already have multiple people in your head. Anything new? Voices, presences, or anything?"
