“You’re choosing her ? " She took a step forward, her gaze locked on their intertwined hands. “ghar chlao bhai .”

Anu’s breath hitched at the cold demand. She squeezed Anuj’s hand tighter, her tears falling silently onto his skin. Anuj felt the wetness and turned slightly, catching a glimpse of her tear-streaked face. His chest tightened. He couldn’t bear to see her like this.

“Mukku, I can’t,” he said firmly, his voice trembling but resolute. He took a step closer to his sister, his other hand reaching out as if to calm her. “Listen to me. Anu is not just someone I’m with. She’s… she’s my life. Without her, I won’t come back. I can’t come back.”

Mukku stared at him, stunned. The words hung heavy in the air, slicing through the tension. GK, standing beside her, sighed deeply, his face etched with worry. “Mukku beta,” he said softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Your brother has found someone who gives him happiness. Don’t take that away from him. He’ll come to you, I promise. Just give him time.”

Anu stepped back, guilt and sorrow etched on her face. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn’t find the words. Anuj, sensing her distress, pulled her closer. “Mukku,” he said, his voice now firm. “Anu hasn’t taken anything. If anything, she’s the reason I even have the courage to stand here and face you. Don't blame her for what happened.”

“Let’s go, Anu. Hamare saath ghar chalo. Bhai ko nahi aana toh rehne do yahin,” Mukku muttered, her voice barely above a whisper, but it sliced through the silence like a sudden gust of wind.

Everyone stood frozen. In surprised

Anuj's breath caught in his throat. Anu's eyes widened in disbelief, her heart thudding against her chest. For a second, she wondered if she'd misheard her. Her fingers instinctively gripped Anuj’s tighter, seeking comfort… and finding it.

Mukku’s gaze fell on their intertwined hands, still clasped tightly, trembling with the weight of unspoken fears and unvoiced emotions.

And then, in a tone that held both mischief and wisdom, Mukku finally broke into a grin.
“Kya bhai… aise darr rahe ho jaise tumhe maa ne pakad liya ho!”

Anuj blinked. What?

Mukku continued, stepping closer, her voice louder and firmer now, filled with love.
“Yeh life tum dono ki hai. Aur ab tum dono saath ho, tum khush ho — toh logon ke opinion se kya farak padta hai? I’m happy for both of you. Pagal ho dono ke dono.”

For a moment, it was hard to tell if anyone was breathing.

Anuj looked at her, stunned. “Mukku… sach mein?” he asked, voice heavy with disbelief, eyes moist.

Mukku rolled her eyes playfully.
“Yaar bhai… tum toh December mein April fool ban gaye!”

G.K. chuckled from behind.

Anuj turned toward him, still dazed, then suddenly  wrapped Mukku in a tight, emotional hug — his one hand still tightly holding Anu’s.

And then G.K. walked over, placing his hand gently on Mukku’s shoulder, his eyes glistening with pride and relief. “Ab lagta hai, mere bacche poore ho gaye.”

Mukku looked toward Anu, tears spilling from her eyes.
“Thank you, Anu… tum iski zindagi mein wapas aayi, uske saath nahi, hum sabki family poori kar di.”
