It's been a couple of days since I picked up Maila from whatever the hell that "date" was and the night she ended up staying over at my place.
Things have been smooth since then—she's been calling more, and she even told me she's done with dating. That was music to my ears.
Luckily, my dad and Jasmine didn't see her the next morning when she left. That was a blessing because I didn't have the patience for Jasmine's unnecessary drama. My dad? He's cool with me having girls over. But Jasmine? She's all holy and judgmental, and I already know she would've had a sermon ready for me.
Right now, I was at lunch with Keith and Cameron, eating Wingstop. The cafeteria was loud as hell, but our table? Pure entertainment.
"Man, I don't know what you did to Kamiya, dawg, but she been all happy and smiley lately," Keith laughed, dipping his wing in ranch.
Cameron smirked, shaking his head. "Mannn, that 'act right' definitely put her in her place."
I grinned. "Hell yeah, 'cause how she gon' go out with another dude like I wouldn't find out? And what shocked me even more was that Maila was there with her."
Cameron scoffed. "Yeah, that threw me off. I wasn't expecting to see her there either."
Keith looked at me, eyebrows raised. "Wait, what? Maila was there too?"
I chuckled. "Yeah, with some dude. I think his name was KD... or KG... something like that." I shrugged.
"Did you get mad?" Keith asked.
I shook my head. "Nah, I wasn't mad. I just wish the dude she went out with was actually worth something. Homeboy didn't even know what a jack was."
Keith nearly choked on his drink. "Dawg, ain't no way," he laughed.
Before I could respond, Skylar strolled up and sat right in Keith's lap, making him raise an eyebrow.
"Keith?" she pouted. "What, I'm not bae anymore?"
Keith smirked. "You still bae, I just ain't used to you calling me by my name."
"I just wanted to say your name," she giggled, then turned to us. "Hey, guys."
"Wassup, Sky," I said, dapping her up. Cameron nodded in greeting.
Before Sky could say anything else, she turned to Cameron. "Oh! Kamiya said meet her by your—"
Before she could finish, Cameron was already gone, literally flying out of the cafeteria.
Keith shook his head, laughing. "Oh yeah, he's definitely whipped now."
I chuckled, shaking my head.
Right then, Maila walked up, smiling as usual, setting her bookbag down beside me.
