"We're here." I say as I open the car door for Alana. The dreaded birthday date had arrived. I don't know why I even entertained any of this when I knew that this wasn't going to be the story where the guy gets the girl. She didn't just deserve better, she needed better. Because she gave so much of herself to me. I didn't shut things down, I watched her fall for me and now...now, everything would crumble.
The only thing saving me is that I gave up the plan for her, because the truth that I couldn't admit until now, was that I was falling in love with Alana Solis. Being in love with her, meant that I needed to be honest with her, about the plan, about me, about all of it. No matter the consequences because she deserved that. I am willing to change myself for her and that was something that 9 months ago, I could never admit. I'd called Carlos and Enzo before going to pick her up and I told them everything on my mind. Enzo said I shouldn't tell her and that idea was heavily tempting but I couldn't do that. If she ever found out, which she probably would because her brother knows exactly who I am but for some reason hasn't told her, I know she'd never forgive me. Carlos wished me luck so he clearly didn't have any faith in how this would go.
She looks up and sees the restaurant. I'd bought it a few days ago and hired some staff already. I'd also dedicated an empty room in the restaurant for iceskating, to combine the two things she loves. Her eyes start watering and a large smile appears on her face as she enters the place with shaky hands. I enter behind her and let her look around the place.
"Do you like it?" I ask.
"Are you joking? I love it!" Her face is filled with joy and she hugs me. Probably going to be the last time. I take in her scent as I hold onto her. "Thank you, thank you! I could cry but good makeup day today. You even hired staff for me. Nicholas seriously, I love y- I love it." I hear the slip up in her voice and my heart warms. She pulls away from me, looking shy.
"I love it too princess. There's a room I think you'd love to see." I take her hand and walk into the room I had turned into an ice skating rink. It had everything a normal ice rink place would have but here it was in one spacious room.
"How? Nicholas this is just about the best birthday of my life. Please can we skate? I'll teach you everything I promise." She stares up at me with pleading eyes and I nod.
"I hired ice skating instructors who start soon. All the ice skates ar-" She immediately speeds over excitement written all over her face to the ice skates and starts changing into them. I go over and join her, I didn't even care if I was going to be bad at this, as long as she was happy before I ruined everything.
1 Hour Later
"You did good for a beginner, that was so much fun." She says. We've finished with ice skating and she was amazing. Which I never doubted she would be, she was amazing at everything she did. She grabs my hand as we sit across from each other at the restaurant table. "I know that this is kind of dumb but, when I used to work at the club, I'd always hoped that a rich guy would come in and change my whole life. It was silly but, I think it kind of worked. You have done so much for me, and I will never stop being grateful for you. You are my everything right now and so glad that after tonight, nothing will stand inbetween us." Oh, fuck. My eyes set realising just how deep of a whole I've dug for myself just because of love.
"'Nothing' is ambitious." I say looking down at the table, looking into her eyes, those beautiful eyes, felt like a punishment right now because she was so so happy. But if not now, then when?
"What makes you say that?"
"Nothing." Wrong answer.
"Are you ok? I feel like you've been different tonight. Like somethings on your mind. You know you can tell me anything right?"
"I don't think you'd want to hear this one."
"Honesty remember? I don't care what it is, tell me, please."
