Selena noticed instantly. "Relax," she said with a laugh. "She's probably just being polite. Actually—fun fact—me and Jo made a bet that you guys would fuck after Gigi's birthday."

Taylor choked on her drink, sputtering into a napkin while trying not to soak her dress. "Excuse me?"

Sabrina and Selena burst into laughter as Taylor wiped herself off, shooting them both a glare.

Sabrina leaned over the table with a cheeky grin. "So... how is she in bed? I've never been with a girl before, but I'd definitely make an exception for her."

Taylor clicked her fingers in front of her face. "She's mine."

That only made the girls laugh harder.

Taylor's voice lowered as she added, almost shyly, "She's good. Really good. Like... the second she's beside me, I'm already soaking between my thighs."

Sabrina's eyebrows shot up in impressed surprise. Selena let out a low whistle. "Knew those arms would do you better than Travis ever did."

"Speaking of Travis," Sabrina said, "what's the plan there?"

Taylor didn't look at them—she looked past them, right at Ruby, who was now thanking the bartender and heading back with the drinks. A small, sincere smile tugged at her lips. "I'm breaking up with him. I want to make it official with her."

Neither of the girls said anything at first—just shared a knowing glance before nodding, as if it was the only logical conclusion all along.

Ruby arrived at the table, setting the drinks down in front of Selena and Sabrina, and gently handing Taylor hers.

"Thank you, gorgeous," Sabrina said with a wink.

Taylor rolled her eyes, sipping her drink and resting her hand on Ruby's thigh beneath the table.

They kept the drinks light, choosing not to go overboard. It wasn't that kind of night. They were here to be seen—but also to be together. For once, out in the open.

When the night finally wound down, Ruby and Taylor made their way back to Taylor's car. The walk to the lot was longer than expected, and the chill in the air bit through the thin fabric of Taylor's dress. Ruby noticed her shiver and, without a word, slipped off her blazer, draping it around Taylor's shoulders.

Taylor sighed at the warmth, smiling softly. "Thank you."

In the car, Ruby put on some smooth jazz, the mellow notes filling the space between them. Taylor hummed along, her hand resting lazily over Ruby's on the console. About halfway into the drive, she turned to her.

"Can we go to your place?"

Ruby blinked in surprise.

Taylor shrugged. "I just realized... I don't even know what your place looks like. I want to."

Ruby glanced at her, something unreadable flickering in her eyes, before nodding. "Alright."

She made a turn, heading for her apartment building—a quiet place nestled away from the chaos of the city. When they arrived, Taylor looked around the lobby, her heels echoing off the tiles. It was a humble building. Nothing flashy. Just clean, quiet, and ordinary.

"I thought you said your neighbor had a cat," Taylor said as they waited for the elevator.

Ruby glanced at her. "He moved, I suppose."

Taylor hummed, accepting the answer without a second thought. She didn't know—couldn't know—that the scratches Ruby had once claimed came from a neighbor's cat had actually come from Taylor herself. From that night. From her panic. From a different life.
