catalina woke up at the break of dawn quickly putting her hair in two tight braids before leaving the house with her dad. today was the day of the camp and since it was only catalina's class which consisted of only around twenty people, they took a coach bus to the campsite.

about two hours later, they arrive and are unexpectedly told who their tent partners are. "this is a very irresponsible mistake i have made, and i know that some people were supposed to have a tent to themselves..." the teacher paused and catalina sighed because she was one of the few her teacher was talking about.

"but that cannot happen since i didn't bring enough," the teacher continued and some students exclaimed, oh come on.

"so to solve this, i thankfully have brought enough tents to fit at least two people in it so i'll assign you random tent partners." the teacher finished.

the teacher assigned only the same genders in a tent together but since catalina experiences extreme misfortune when cris is involved, of course they both got paired together.

catalina angrily set up the tent, she happened to get frustrated at every little thing cris did, because this was supposed to be focused on immersing with nature. but he just had to ruin it. even if it wasn't even his fault.

"can you use your brain?" catalina exclaimed as cris struggled to stick the rods through the tent. "can you chill out?" cris said as he continued to incorrectly set up the tent. "let me do it!" catalina reached her hand out to grab the rod, but instead grabbed cris' hand.

she quickly flinched her hand away like it hurt to make contact with his skin. catalina successfully set the tent up all by herself. cris on the other hand was busy swatting every minuscule peace of nature that made contact with any part of his body.

clearly he wasn't used to this, and probably never would be. catalina went to go grab her stuff while she saw cris entering and testing out the tent. but before she could even begin to part from the tent his aggravating voice was heard once more.

"catalina! help!" he yelped from inside the tent. "what?" she asked. "there's a bug in here!" he quickly rushed out of the tent.

catalina peeked inside the tent and revealed a squished and dead beetle on the floor of the tent. "cris it wouldn't hurt to take a breath, it's harmless," she sighed as she flicked the beetle out of the tent and left to collect her stuff once more.

"you never know, it could've been dangerous! being a smart ass could bite you back in ass when you least expect it. just hope a bug doesn't do that first." he swatted yet another bug off of his arm.

catalina rolled her eyes as she heard only a couple words that came out of his mouth.

the teacher led everyone down to the beach and everyone practically dove in right after they saw the beautiful crystal clear water that revealed the beautiful reef beneath it.

"this is gorgeous," catalina said aloud which many others agreed to with their own share of observations. "jump in everyone!" the teacher encouraged to which everyone took off their cover up shirts revealing their swim swear.

catalina swam with the fish and she finally felt at peace. the sun shined on her skin and the water cooled her down perfectly while she floated on her back.

hours later, everyone gathered around the campfire everyone helped make and marshmallows were handed out and s'mores were made.

catalina watched cris from the opposite side of the fire, seeing his face just above the flames. she saw the way he squinted his eyes every time his hand got a little too close to the fire. it was amusing her. but she decided to stay silent about it.

while she ate her s'more she caught a glimpse of cris' marshmallow catching on fire, and he threw it carelessly, right near catalina.

luckily it landed only a couple centimetres away from her feet. "cris are you crazy?" she exclaimed. "sorry! it caught me off guard," he argued. "you're one tough guy," she said sarcastically.

"piss off," cris said as he grabbed another marshmallow and stick, leaving his previous marshmallow on the floor for someone else to pick up, real charming.

they had been instructed to go to sleep, so that they are ready for the day ahead of them. cris and catalina are sat in their tent taking advantage of the reception they managed to acquire.

catalina took a sip of her juice box, refreshing her from the surprisingly hot night. being able to see because of the flashlight in the corner of their tent, cris noticed this. and cris, who was parched and was oblivious of the whereabouts of water, would appreciate a sip.

"can i have a sip?" cris asked not knowing what he was expecting. "for sure," catalina smiled which cris was surprised by, but he appreciated it. catalina reached her hand out and let him take a sip from the straw, then she squeezed the box so that it'd explode all over him.

cris choked, "are you serious?" he desperately tried to wipe the juice off of himself, this was one way to cool down for sure. but the temperature only rose when cris took his shirt off that revealed his toned abs.

"a warning would've been nice," catalina looked away, but still had quite great vision of him in her peripheral vision. "you're stuck in the same tent as me, deal with it," he said then changed into a different shirt.

"do you mind if i turn this off?" he pointed to the flashlight and turned it off before catalina could even answer. "yep, go ahead," catalina shrugged knowing her words had no effect then she put her phone down deciding she'd go to sleep.

the only thing she could see was the tiny bit of moonlight slightly shining through the tent. and the only noise that could be heard was cris rustling and twisting in his sleeping bag.

catalina was turned towards him at this point, having to endure his movement. but he turned one last time and settled, and it was obvious from the heavy breathing that got awfully closer that cris was faced towards her too.

this made her realise how close they actually were because catalina swore that she could feel his breath on her skin. catalina so badly wanted to be able to see but she couldn't see anything, no matter how hard she tried.

both of them could've chosen to turn back around, but they didn't. maybe it was because behind all of the events from today, at the end of the day there was still curiosity.

curiosity that belonged in both cris and catalina's hearts, but what exactly they were curious about was unknown.
