After two days it was finally time for you to test the ODM gear for the first time. All Cadets had been exciting to finally train with it and to fly through the woods like their superiors.
You all had to wait on the training grounds as your commander told you what to do and gave you a few advices.
There were a few logs stuck in the earth on which they had to test their ability with the gear. Each Cadet had their own gear, which they had to attach to their body's earlier.
You weren't that nervous as the others around you. You knew your strengths, and two of them were balance and patience. She just had to concentrate on not to fall, it shouldn't be that hard.
When it was your turn your grapples were quickly put into their places on the logs and your legs were beginning to feel the pressure on the straps. Some other soldiers helped you put everything into place as you were levitated into the air.
You took a deep breath and started to feel slightly panicked that you would make a mistake, and all your effort would be over. But you didn't want to fail, and certainly not that your effort would be wasted.
So with your newfound strength you put one leg in front of the other so that you could find the right balance. You let your hands stay in place around the wires and tried not to think too much about what you would do when you failed. That wasn't as bad as you thought. Once you got the hang of it, it wasn't that difficult.
You were just waiting for the moment when you would use it for the first time around the woods and buildings, or when you would kill your first titans. Flying through the air, feeling the adrenaline through your veins, like you always dreamt of. Like you were free of all your worries and regrets.
Fight for humanity. That was what you always told yourself . You wanted to make a difference, and to put and end to the worlds unknown wisdom about what was happening outside the walls. As long as you could remember that is, all you knew were these walls. And you wanted to know what was beyond it.
After a few moments you were lowered and you were told that you passed. A slight smile made itself present on your face, as you thanked the commander and turned around to look for her friends.
Connie and Sasha were with most of the others on the opposite of the training grounds. They all surrounded someone and as you got closer you recognized Eren, who seemed to struggle with holding himself up. It surprised you as he was the one with the most determination to destroy all titans as he stated the day before.
His teeth were gritted together and a slight glare was visible as he tried everything to hold himself up, but after a few seconds he failed to do so and crushed to the ground, where he was immediately comforted by Mikasa. His face still held determination, but it was overcome by fear. Eren stood up, shoving Mikasa away and walking away, the girl following behind him with Armin.
