Jiyu took in the information, the gears of her head working slowly.
"How... do vampires die?"
Hyunjin chuckled. "What? Wanna get rid of me?"
Jiyu shook her head aggressively, some of her tears falling as she did. "Never!"
Hyunjin chuckled softly again, pulling another tissue and wiping her face.
"If someone takes my heart out of my body and burns it, I die," he said calmly, and Jiyu's eyes widened again.
"Don't just say this to everyone!" she panicked, and he scoffed lightly as he leaned back again.
"You literally asked."
Jiyu sniffled, pursing her lips as she looked down, and Hyunjin tilted his head when he saw some tears falling onto her hands.
"You know, Felix's biggest problem now is that he's bronze in some game he's playing."
"I'm not crying for Felix now, dumbass!" she wiped the rest of her tears with the back of her hand before scooting closer to him, making him blink when she hugged his arm and rested her head on his shoulder, one of her hands grabbing his tightly.
"What're you doing?" he muttered, and she hugged his arm tighter, sniffling.
"Warming you up," she said softly yet firmly, which made him blink again before chuckling.
But anyway, his larger hand eventually hugged her small one.
"Scientifically, that’s not how it works," he rested his head on hers. "But whatever you want."
Hyunjin still could hear Jiyu sniffling, her breathing still not quite steady.
"Stop crying," he said calmly.
"I'm not crying."
"Wanna hear something funny?"
"Mhm."
"So," Hyunjin's thumb stroked the back of her hand. "My father was from the Baekje kingdom, and my mother was Roman—"
"Are they dead?! You said you didn't know!" Jiyu cut him off, and he rolled his eyes.
"No, but the kingdom and the Roman Empire definitely are dead now."
"Oh."
"Whatever. Vampires from all around the world met to make marriage deals; that was their case, and they wanted me to do the same when I turned 25, before they left."
"And?" Jiyu asked as she wiped her nose, more interested in his story now.
"I was usually hooking up with humans, but I thought vampires were hot. So one night, I found one in my room, and I didn’t know shit about marriage. I just wanted a good fuck."
"Disgustingggg."
"I know, right? So, I didn’t even think, and I almost fell for it until she started speaking those Latin words about our power colliding and how honored I should be that I’m gonna be her spouse and the father of her kids."
"What did you do?"
"I said, Veste te, femina, ego non educatus sum ut filium tuum educem, then I jumped out the window."
"What the fuck does that mean?"
"Put on your clothes, woman, I'm not raised myself to raise your kid."
"If you cursed me in Latin, I would say thank you."
"Scurra."
"Thank you."
"That means rascal."
"Don’t care."
"You suck."
"And you’re old."
"Ancient, actually."
"Crusty."
"Never. I'm handsome as fuck."
"Ew."
"Wanna hear something actually funny?" Hyunjin asked.
"Other than how you almost gave birth to a vampire because you were horny? Sure."
Hyunjin scoffed but said whatever he wanted anyway.
"Felix recommended that dark romance book," Hyunjin whispered slyly, and the way he said it made Jiyu finally giggle.
"25 years old you would be proud."
"Damn, he would be thrilled."
Jiyu kept clinging to Hyunjin as he told her a few little funny stories, making her giggles echo through his room.
Eventually, she fell asleep.
