The smell of my favorite coffee, engulfed my senses. My mind finally going to it's happy place, and a tall figure from the west wing of the building, stood over me.
"Welcome back, Ryn."
He sat the cup of coffee on my desk, his name was Josh Payne. He was one of the many interns here and for whatever reason, he was on the wrong side of the building.
" I've been here for a good two weeks already, but thank you. Are you lost?" I asked.
" Not really, I was told to come over this way but I'll understand why everyone is looking at me like I have two heads. I am more than likely going to be transferred, since the person I was shadowing, quit without notice." He shrugged.
"And you bring me coffee?" I asked.
" I'm your shadow."
I almost spit out my drink. Josh wanted to be one of the Software developers here at the company. There were many positions, but alot of interns were more interested in the stuff they were more familiar with.
Mr. Holmes walked over to my desk, explaining that Josh was going to be my shadow, and I was to tell him everything about my position as a developer. He were to began being on payroll very soon, and he needed all the training he could get.
" This is a major surprise. Why do you want to be a developer?" I asked.
He took a seat next to me, explaining that his father was in tech for years before he retired. He was a great dad, and he wanted to be like him. Good thing that Josh was being financed by his family, or would be a broke son of a bitch or taking on a part time job somewhere else while doing this, just like every other intern.
Din came in from his break. He was almost watching us as he moved towards his seat in the back. I wasn't really interested in hearing the sad story on how he and Tina broke up, and how Tina was a no show at work for three days now. No call no show, that would get the girl fired. Unfortunately, like everyone know, her dad had pulls and she was still able to work.
When Josh left the seat to go home, since it was a half a day for him, Din took his place. He wore his glasses again, and his bracelet I gave him was back on his wrist.
"I can just smell that coffee don't have enough caramel."
" What do you want, D?"
" I want to know when did Mr. Holmes gives you the task to intern anyone, and Josh out of everybody?"
Josh was eye candy in the company, but he was too young. Being 23 to my 28, I couldn't do nothing with that little boy. Sure, he was grown, but I was damn near thirty.
" And your point?"
Din poked his tongue in his cheek, " there's none."
" Okay, Din."
" Are you mad at me?" He asks.
" No."
" What is with these small answers?"
I didn't know the reason for that. I could be overstimulated, I could be just...done with the entire Tina thing. She was gone and I should be happy, but I didn't have the energy for that either.
" I know you went to her house to give her something, Din. That's why you were late coming off of your break. We still share locations."
" Oh."
I know Tina and Din aren't done. She's probably the only one willing to give him any sexual favors. He has been distant, but I don't think he's completely over it.
