It was raining again.

Fitting.

The same kind of rain that had once softened Virat’s edges. But tonight, it hit harder. Angrier. The thunder rattled the windows of his penthouse, matching the ache that had been building in his chest ever since Rohit walked away.

He hadn't eaten. Barely slept. The silence in the apartment felt unbearable—like it was punishing him for the words he never should’ve said.

“You’re used to being invisible.”

It kept replaying. Over and over.

Until he couldn’t take it anymore.

Virat grabbed his keys, no umbrella, no driver. Just the keys. And he drove through the downpour like he had something to prove—to himself, maybe. That he could still fix this. That it wasn’t too late.

-----------------------

Rohit wasn’t expecting anyone.

He was curled on the couch, hoodie sleeves tugged over his hands, a movie playing quietly in the background that he wasn’t really watching. His phone had been silent all day. Just like Virat.

So when the loud knocks echoed through his door, his heart jumped.

He opened it cautiously.

And there he was.

Soaked to the skin, hair plastered to his forehead, shirt clinging to him like a second skin. He looked wrecked.

“Virat?”

“I said the wrong thing,” Virat said immediately. Voice hoarse. Shaking. “I let fear talk for me, again. And I’ve done that too many times.”

Rohit blinked, stunned. “You’re—what are you doing here?”

“I can’t sleep,” Virat said. “Not without knowing if I’ve lost you.”

The rain roared behind him, but neither moved.

Rohit’s voice broke. “Why did you hurt me like that?”

Virat stepped forward, slow, deliberate. “Because I thought pushing you away would protect you. That if I made you angry, you wouldn’t miss me when this all went to hell.”

“I’d miss you even if I hated you,” Rohit whispered. “Because you’re the only one who ever made me feel like I wasn’t invisible.”

Virat’s face crumpled.

And then Rohit reached for him—tugged him inside, slammed the door against the storm, and pressed his forehead to Virat’s chest. His soaked shirt was freezing, but Rohit didn’t care.

He just needed to feel his heartbeat.

“You always say the worst things when you’re scared,” Rohit murmured. “But I see you, Virat. All of you. Even the parts you try to hide.”

Virat wrapped his arms around him tightly. Desperately. “I don’t want to lose you.”

“Then stop running.”

“I will,” Virat promised, voice cracking. “I swear. Just—don’t walk away again.”

Rohit looked up at him, eyes shining. “Then don’t give me a reason to.”

They kissed then. Wet. Messy. More tears than passion.

But it was real.

And for the first time in days, the storm outside wasn’t the one that scared them most.
