Chapter 2: A Big Change Part 2

The next day, I went through my morning routine.
I went to several guilds to work so I could learn and level up; today I visited the merchants’ guild to make some deals with stores, then I went to the blacksmiths’ guild, and finally to the alchemists’ guild to brew some potions. Why do I want to make potions? Well, let's just say I have a certain friend with a magic item shop that's apparently in the red, and being a good friend and merchant, I made a deal with her to sell her my products in exchange for money and discounts. She accepted very happily, to my surprise. I'm quite afraid she might end up making a deal with some scammer.
Anyway, as I was thinking about that, I arrived at the magic item shop, "Wiz’s Magic Item Shop."

"Hey Wiz, I came to bring you... wow!" — as I entered the shop, I was surprised by the number of boxes packed with items — "There are so many boxes."

While I was looking through the items, a brown-haired girl wearing a purple robe and possessing quite pleasant features caught sight of me and came to greet me.

"Oh, if it isn’t Kazuma-san, welcome! What do you need?" she said with such a lovely smile and—wait! Focus, Kazuma, today is not the day to ogle Wiz’s chest.

"H-Hi Wiz, I came to bring you the potions. Where should I put them?"

"Just leave them over there, I’ll organize them later," she said. I went where she indicated and dropped off the potions.

"Done... Hey Wiz, what are all these boxes?"

"Oh, these are the new goods I bought! Thanks to your help, Kazuma, I’ll be able to lift my shop out of the red!" She looked genuinely happy, but I still saw the same items as the day I first met her.

I walked over to see what was in the boxes. I picked up something that looked strange.

"What does this do?"

"It’s a magic item for hunting. All you have to do is throw it at your target, and a net will come out and trap them, no matter their size. Plus, the net’s cords are made to be indestructible, so it can never be broken."
Oooh, that’s actually a valuable item, it would be useful in the forest or on a mission—
"The bad thing is, it can only be used once and only works if you’re close to your target."
—Forget it, it’s useless. I put it back and picked up another item.

"And this?"

"It’s a magic bag that can store a large number of items inside."
Alright, this one sounds better than the last one.
"The downside is you can’t choose what you pull out. It’ll be something random from what you put inside."
Basically, it’s like Doraemon’s magic pocket but even more useless; if you're in danger, you might pull out the strongest thing you stored or just a random stick you picked up somewhere. I put it back too.

I kept at it for a while, picking up things that seemed useful until I heard about their defects. Honestly, I don't know how this shop is still standing; everything is expensive and useless! Apparently, the only thing bringing in money are the potions I supply.

"Hey Wiz, maybe you should just give up. None of this stuff is any good; you’re going to stay in the red if you keep this up," I said honestly — I really didn’t see a future for the shop.

"NO!" — Well, I didn’t see that reaction coming. She answered so suddenly—"S-sorry... It's just that... I can't give up on this shop. I made a promise to a friend that we’d work together to fulfill our dreams, and I don’t want to quit until I make it happen."

I was pretty surprised. I never thought this shop would mean so much to her. I guess I shouldn't have said that.

"I’m sorry, Wiz. I didn’t mean to undermine everything you’re trying to do," I said, bowing my head.
