Everyone finally settled down on the bleachers, breathing heavily after the intense run. Dunk wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, slumping lazily into his seat. Joong stood a few meters away, busy discussing something seriously with a group of seniors, papers and clipboards in hand.
It should have been a peaceful break But nothing around Dunk and Phuwin ever stayed peaceful for long.
Phuwin (teasing):
"Hey, move over! You're hogging the whole bench, you skyscraper!"Dunk (rolling his eyes):
"I'm not fat. Maybe you're just too small, pocket-sized idiot."It started with shoves. Light at first. Playful even.
Then a harder push.
A glare.
Another shove. And suddenly-Phuwin, in a moment of pure chaos, shoved Dunk way too hard without thinking.
Time seemed to slow down.
Dunk's eyes widened in shock as he felt his body tipping, the edge of the bleacher suddenly giving way under his feet. His arms flailed uselessly, trying to catch onto something-anything-but he found only air.
Love (screaming at the top of her lungs):
"DUNK!!"The world spun.
A loud thud echoed as Dunk hit the hard ground below, a sickening crack following right after.
For a moment, everything was silent.Dunk lay motionless, sprawled awkwardly on the concrete, blood trickling slowly from a gash on his forehead, painting a terrifying crimson trail across his pale skin. His big, usually curious eyes were dazed, half-lidded, unfocused-almost like a broken doll dropped from a shelf.
Phuwin, frozen at the top of the bleachers, stood in horror, his hands trembling slightly, the color drained from his face.
Joong turned the moment he heard Love's scream.
His heart dropped.Without a second thought, Joong sprinted towards Dunk, papers flying from his hands, the world around him blurring.
Joong (yelling):
"Move! Get out of the way!"He dropped to his knees beside Dunk, hands trembling as he gently touched Dunk's cheeks, trying to keep him awake.
Joong (soft but frantic):
"Dunk. Dunk, stay with me. Don't you close your eyes."Dunk blinked slowly, a small, almost sarcastic smile twitching at the corner of his lips despite the blood staining his face.
Dunk (whispering hoarsely):
"Next time... I'm pushing him..."Joong gave a half-choked laugh, his chest tightening in both relief and anger, he looked up to terrified phuwin.
Behind them, the seniors were already calling for medics, panic buzzing through the field like electricity.
Joong shook Dunk's shoulders urgently, panic clawing at his chest.
Joong (voice trembling):
"Dunk? Hey... Dunk, answer me."No response.
Not even a twitch.
Dunk's body, usually so full of quiet stubbornness, lay limp and frighteningly pale in Joong's arms.Something inside Joong snapped.
Without wasting another second, he scooped Dunk up in his arms-a fragile thing too light, too cold-and sprinted toward the university's emergency medic room, shouting over his shoulder .The world blurred around him.All Joong could see was Dunk's bloodied face resting against his chest, blood trickling steadily down the side of his temple, staining Joong's crisp white shirt deep crimson.
