Rewind to just a few minutes ago, and you have the campus' beloved boy and the newcomer, fingers intertwined, and getting lost within each other's depths of orbs—
"Okay, stop being disgusting." Rowan rolls his eyes so hard it probably saw the back of his vision, sickened.
"Yeah, my bad," Skylar huffs, crossing her arms, not feeling bad at all. "You're a menace, you know that?"
Rowan offers her a toothy grin, holding up his can of beer then downs it. "It's a hobby. Besides, why are you so worked up? He probably won't even remember your name."
"Doubt it. He's part of the rich kids scene, a complete asshole, yet girls flock to him like birds." Skylar made a face, leaning in to whisper, "Word has it that he uses witchcraft to attract his groupies."
Rowan raises an eyebrow. "With that face card? I doubt he needs to."
Skylar's grin widens. "Exactly. I just made that up."
"...You're so full of shit yourself, aren't you."
Skylar shrugs. Rowan rolls his eyes again.
"But really, babe—" Skylar takes another swig, "I mean it when I say that he's a major red flag. That man fucks up more people than project deadlines does. Metaphorically and literally."
Rowan's eyes sparkled. Skylar decides that her new friend is crazier than she had expected.
"Skylar?"
"...What are you thinking?"
"That's even better."

Rowan adjusted to the Havorshire lifestyle quickly. He goes to his classes, makes some friends other than Skylar in his class, and he's basically thriving.
Days bleed to each other, and between boring lectures, Skylar's unsolicited gossip, and this Christian conservative guy who recently came out to Rowan during a group project turned therapy session, and a trans (!!!) girl who practically adopted him — three weeks slips by.
He hasn't made any rich kid cry yet, but he can already feel the character development a few weeks in. Most of his classmates already know his name, or at least dubbed him as the 'new kid', and he doesn't mind.
And, he's been really damn productive.
Back in his home university, he never even entertained the idea to the local library, preferring to just rot himself in his dorm room and banging his head against his table when the creativity block hit his ass.
