They/them pronouns for Y/N.
Sonia Nevermind had always been a beacon of grace and kindness, her royal heritage not making her distant but only more approachable. She cherished the quiet moments spent with Y/N, enjoying the simple pleasures of life — the way Y/N's smile lit up the room, the soft chuckle that escaped them when she told a silly joke, and the way they always listened to her, truly heard her.
But not everyone around them was happy about their growing bond.
Kazuichi Soda, the ever-obsessive mechanic, had been watching from the sidelines, his feelings for Sonia festering into something darker. He'd been quiet for a while, but the sight of Y/N and Sonia together was like a thorn in his side, each laugh shared between them a reminder of what he couldn't have.
One evening, after a peaceful day spent with Sonia, Y/N received an unexpected message from Kazuichi. It was innocent at first glance — a simple invitation to meet up in the garage where he spent most of his time working. Y/N, unaware of Kazuichi's growing resentment, agreed, thinking nothing of it.
When Y/N arrived, they found Kazuichi working on one of his machines, his usual eager energy dampened by something darker. He greeted them with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"I'm glad you came. I needed to talk to you about something... something important,"
Kazuichi said, wiping his hands on a rag as he gestured for them to sit.
Y/N gave him a curious look but complied, settling into a nearby chair. "What's up, Kazuichi?"
He hesitated for a moment, then leaned in a little closer. "I don't know if you've noticed, but Sonia's not exactly... the type you think she is. She's using you, Y/N. She's just playing with your emotions. You're not really her equal, you know?"
Y/N blinked in confusion, feeling a knot form in their stomach. "What are you talking about?"
Kazuichi's voice dropped, his tone low and conspiratorial. "You're just a distraction to her. She's a princess, Y/N, and people like her don't stay with people like us. You're going to get hurt. She'll leave you when it gets inconvenient. Trust me, I know how it goes."
Y/N felt a chill run down their spine, doubt beginning to creep in. Could it be true? Sonia had always been so kind, so sincere, but Kazuichi had been around longer. Maybe he saw something they didn't.
The next day, Kazuichi didn't stop. He constantly slipped into conversations with Y/N, dropping little comments, poisoning their thoughts. "You know, I saw how Sonia was acting yesterday. She barely noticed you when you were talking. It's like she was looking right through you. Do you really think she loves you?"
By the time Y/N met Sonia that afternoon, their heart was heavy with the seeds of doubt. Sonia noticed immediately, her gentle nature picking up on the shift in Y/N's behavior.
"Y/N? Is something wrong? You seem... distant" she asked, concern lacing her voice.
Y/N hesitated, unsure how to express the turmoil they felt. "It's nothing. Just... Kazuichi said some things."
Sonia's face softened, her worry deepening. "What kind of things?"
Y/N felt conflicted but couldn't hide the uncertainty anymore. "He said... you might be using me. That you're not really invested in this relationship, and that I'm just a distraction for you."
Sonia's eyes widened, her expression turning into one of hurt and confusion. "Y/N... I love you. What he said, it's all lies. Kazuichi has never been able to understand what we have. He's just trying to manipulate you."
"But... how do I know that?" Y/N whispered, their voice tinged with doubt.
Sonia gently took their hands in hers, her grip firm but tender. "Because I would never hurt you. I would never use you. Please, believe me. We are equals, and I care for you deeply. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Kazuichi, watching from a distance, smirked to himself, proud of how far his manipulations had gone. But he wasn't done yet.
As the days passed, his tactics grew more devious, using every opportunity to sow discord between Sonia and Y/N. He would speak out of turn, subtly insinuating that Sonia was pulling away or that Y/N wasn't good enough for her. Each time he spoke, his words echoed in Y/N's mind, slowly driving a wedge between them.
Sonia could see it. The way Y/N's eyes would flicker with uncertainty whenever Kazuichi was around. How they started second-guessing her every action. She knew Kazuichi was behind it all, but she wasn't sure how to break the cycle.
One day, after another heated confrontation between Y/N and Kazuichi, Sonia confronted him. "Why are you doing this? What do you gain from it?"
Kazuichi's eyes were cold. "I just want Y/N to see the truth. I'm the right for you, Sonia."
Sonia's heart clenched, but she stood firm. "Y/N is my choice. I love them, and I will not let you destroy this. You can try, but it won't work."
But Kazuichi wasn't done. His words were sharp, a final attempt to turn Y/N against her. He cornered Y/N one last time, his voice low and insistent.
"You can't trust her. You're just a pawn in her world. She doesn't see you for who you really are. She's just using you until she finds someone better."
Y/N's resolve wavered. They had been through so much with Sonia, yet Kazuichi's words kept echoing in their mind. Were they truly enough for Sonia?
But Sonia's voice cut through the noise, her words like a lifeline. "Y/N... please. Don't listen to him. You're not a pawn. You are everything to me."
Sonia's eyes were filled with tears, her vulnerability exposed. "I'll fight for us. Don't let him tear us apart."
In that moment, Y/N realized something important: they knew Sonia. They trusted her. Kazuichi's manipulations were a web of lies designed to destroy something beautiful, but it wouldn't work. Not this time.
With a deep breath, Y/N turned to Sonia, taking her hand and pulling her close. "I believe you. I trust you."
And together, they would face whatever came next, knowing that the strength of their bond would be enough to overcome anything — even Kazuichi's attempts to tear them apart.
