| Hokage's Office | First Connection

The door of the Hokage's office flew open with a loud bang, nearly scaring the receptionist into knocking over her ink pot.

"I said I was sorry!" Y/N Uzumaki shouted over her shoulder, storming out of the office in a blur of red hair and righteous indignation.

From behind her, the calm voice of the Fourth Hokage—her dad—called out, "You snuck into the Archives, Y/N! You can't just 'borrow' sealed scrolls like they're snacks!"

"I put it back!" she yelled. "Mostly!"

She didn't see the figure in front of her until her shoulder collided into something solid—and someone dropped his book.

Y/N stumbled back. "Ow—hey!"

Hatake Kakashi, looked down at her. His silver hair stuck up like a shocked porcupine, and his dark eyes blinked slowly as if her existence mildly inconvenienced his afternoon.

"You should look where you're running," he said, picking up his tiny book off the floor.

Y/N scowled. "You should try standing somewhere not in the path of an emotionally wounded child."

"You sound fine to me."

"I'm very emotionally wounded."

Kakashi stared at her for a second, then deadpanned, "Do you need medical attention or just attention?"

Y/N blinked... then broke into a grin. "You're a jerk."

He shrugged. "So I've been told."

She tilted her head, curious. "Aren't you that prodigy kid? Third in his class, finished the bell test without even touching the bells?"

"Second in my class," he corrected. "I beat the top student last week."

Y/N crossed her arms, smirking. "Sounds like someone needs a hobby."

"You just yelled at the Hokage and ran into a wall."

"It was a strategic retreat."

Kakashi blinked again, then—ever so slightly—his mouth twitched. Not quite a smile. But not nothing, either.

Y/N tilted her head. "Wanna spar later?"

Kakashi paused. "Why?"

"You seem bored. And I've got energy to burn."

"...Fine," he said at last. "But no Archives stealing if you lose."

Y/N beamed. "Deal. But just so you know—I fight dirty."

As she skipped off down the hall, Minato stepped out from his office and sighed, looking at Kakashi.

"She's... a handful."

Kakashi nodded. "She's interesting."

Minato raised a brow. "That's what I'm afraid of."
