The morning air shimmered with soft anticipation as dawn broke over the convergence zone. Pale sunlight filtered through a curtain of silvery mist that danced between the treetops, glowing with residual elemental energy still lingering from the students' bonding experiences. It was the final morning of the Elemental Hunt-and the day of their return.

Mira stood just outside the cabin, her hand resting on the soft neck of the Lumephyr, who had followed her to the edge of the wild. Around her, the other students emerged one by one, packed and dressed in their travel gear, some sporting wide, proud smiles, while others wore tight-lipped expressions of quiet contemplation or regret. Aria and Riven came to her side, their bonded creatures nearby-ever-watchful, ever-loyal.

"I feel like I've changed," Mira murmured.

"You have," Riven said simply. "We all have."

Suddenly, the sky above shimmered-and with a thunderous, harmonic hum, massive Teleportation Portals began to open in the glade. Circular rings of shifting elemental runes spun in midair, arranged in a halo of magic. Four large portals floated just a few feet off the ground, each one humming with the aura of one of the four elements-Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. A fifth, more intricate portal-the Convergence Gate-formed in the center, woven with all four elemental colors pulsing in perfect harmony.

Students gathered with hushed gasps and widened eyes as the portals solidified into shimmering gateways of light.

Mira turned to the Lumephyr. "Will you be okay without me?"

"I was alone for centuries," it replied gently. "Now that we are linked, I am never alone. And neither are you."

A rush of warmth swelled in Mira's chest. She pressed her forehead to its shimmering neck one final time before stepping back.

"See you soon," she whispered.

As the students approached their designated gates, one by one, they were pulled into radiant beams of light. Mira, Aria, Riven, and the others assigned to the convergence zone gathered together before stepping into the central portal.

The sensation was like wind rushing inward, but instead of cold air, it was warm, balanced, and energizing. A cocoon of light spun around her, lifting her through space and essence itself.

Back at Eldryn Academy, the entire school had gathered at the Main Ground, a circular field where the Power Compass stood tall-its ancient crystals humming softly in anticipation.

Professors from every House lined the edges, along with older students who had once taken the same path. The Grandmasters stood beneath the central arch, observing. And in the center of the compass stood Headmistress Windchaser, her silver and green robes flowing with a soft elemental breeze.

As the first students began to arrive through the portals, cheers echoed across the grounds. One after another, they emerged-some with creatures trailing behind them, others with radiant new auras or confident strides. The professors noted each with smiles and nods.

Then came the convergence group. As Mira stepped out of the portal, the crowd fell momentarily silent-not out of disdain, but awe. She carried herself with a quiet strength that had not been there before.

Ashen Vail stood silently at the Grandmasters' side, his arms crossed, gaze impassive-but the tension in his shoulders eased the moment he saw her. His eyes flicked briefly to the spot just behind her, where the residual trace of the Lumephyr's presence shimmered faintly. He gave a single, quiet nod to himself.

She made it. And she bonded.

Grandmaster Pyrrhus Embermane, ever the boldest, leaned toward Ashen. "She returned with something... ancient. I felt the ripple when the portal opened."

Ashen didn't reply, but his faint exhale was the closest anyone would see to relief.

Headmistress Windchaser stepped forward, her voice rising above the murmurs.

"Students of Eldryn Academy," she began, her tone warm and proud, "you have returned from the wilds stronger than you left. Whether you forged a bond, faced a trial, or met your own reflection in the silence of the wild-you have grown."

The students stood straighter, hanging on her words.

"You have entered the Elemental Hunt as initiates of nature and left as witnesses to its ancient truth. To those who formed bonds with elemental creatures-nurture them, learn from them. To those who did not-remember: the wild is patient, and so must you be."

She paused, gaze sweeping over each face.

"This academy is proud of you. The Grandmasters and I have watched from afar, and we acknowledge your strength, your choices, and your restraint. The wild does not give easily. What you have earned-was never promised."

Applause followed her speech. Among the students, pride glowed-both in those who succeeded and those who vowed to return better.

---

In the background, the Grandmasters murmured amongst themselves.

Grandmaster Solara Ironwood smiled softly. "I've never seen so many successful bonds in one Hunt."

Elara Tidewell, arms folded but eyes glinting, nodded. "They'll need every edge. The storm ahead... will not be gentle."

Caelum Windmere tilted his head, as if listening to the wind. "Some of their bonds feel... destined."

Grandmaster Pyrrhus leaned toward Ashen again. "And what of your student? She survived a kidnapping attempt and returned with one of the rarest creatures known to us."

Ashen's voice was calm, even. "She is becoming what she was always meant to be."

Pyrrhus smirked. "Sounds like pride."

Ashen gave no reply. But the corner of his mouth lifted ever so slightly.

---

As students returned to their dorms, buzzing with stories, plans, and laughter, Mira hung back slightly. She wasn't ready to join the noise-not yet. Her thoughts turned to the Eclipse Gryphon, to the ambush, and the teleportation rune. She knew she had to speak to the Grandmasters and Headmistress soon.

And deep in her chest, a quiet fire had begun to burn.

She had passed her trial. But the real path-the one she hadn't chosen, but was now hers to walk-was just beginning.
