The soft glow of sunrise crept through the gaps between the blinds in the room waking me up from my beauty sleep, though I had barely slept the whole night.

Not just tonight actually, for almost 2 weeks now and the lack of sleep is getting to me. I slowly blinked my eyes open trying to adjust my eyes from the sunlight blinding my eye, quite literally. Maybe I should take the other side of the bed, not that Ayaan would mind.

Speaking of Ayaan, I could feel his heavy arm draped around my waist. I was basically cocooned into him and the warmth his huge, muscular, hot body provides- yeah I'm just ovulating- Anyways,

I could not have gotten this far without Ayaan, the way he massages my back, shoulders, my sore feet and what not EVERY SINGLE DAY despite coming home from office tired, I just love this man. I try telling him that it's fine and it doesn't hurt that much but all he says is, "That's the least I could do for you right now." and shuts me up. He got nearly 20 books about pregnancy to try and learn about each trimester and how to prepare for it in case something goes wrong.

I moved a little to try and get up from the bed and immediately regretted it as I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. It wasn't the first time this is happening so I kinda knew that my due date is near but this pain was pure excruciating pain. Sharper. Deeper and I didn't realise I was holding my breath.

Ayaan stirred at once.

“Kiara?” His voice was rough with sleep and tiredness but edged with concern, the way it always was lately.

Ever since I entered my third trimester, he’d turned into something of a hawk- no, like a watchdog — constantly watching me, fussing over me, and leaping into action at the smallest hint of discomfort from my side.

"I'm fine" I whispered as I clutched his hand even though I wasn't fine at all. I didn't want to tire him more since he came from office late last night after striking an important deal he had been working on for a very long time.

Another striking pain hit me as I winced and held his hand tighter.

Ayaan immediately sat up, his face transforming from confusion to panic and worry in a second.

"Wait- what happened? Did your water break- was that a contraction? Kiara, are you okay? Should I call the doctor?" He started rambling.

“Ayaan,” I said, breath hitching, though I couldn’t help the smile forming on my face. He was beautiful like this, dark hair tousled, widened eyes, and the rambling especially.

“I think it’s starting,” I admitted.

To say he shot up like a bolt of lightning was an understatement. No, he got up faster than the speed of light.

“Okay, okay got it, um, don’t move. No, actually, maybe get comfortable. Where is it hurting? Or wait—do you want water? I’ll get you some water wait- And your bag! We need the hospital bag. Where did I keep it- holy sh--” and stopped himself mid sentence so he doesn't curse in front of the baby.

I chuckled softly as I watched him scramble around the room, opening drawers, grabbing the hospital bag that had already been packed and repacked at least 10 times under his supervision and especially his to-pack list.
Safe to say that Ayaan is a professional overthinker.

He grabbed his phone, my phone, charger and an extra pair of socks because 'My feet might get cold' and almost tripped on his own feet.

“Ayaan,” I called gently, grabbing his wrist as another contraction rippled through me.

“Breathe, love. I need you to be calm. You promised you wouldn’t freak out.”

“I’m not freaking out,” he lied sounding very calm though his pale face and trembling hands said otherwise. “I’m just… handling the situation responsibly.”
