𝑆𝑇𝐸𝑉𝐸 𝐴𝑁𝐷 𝐸𝐷𝐷𝐼𝐸 𝐻𝐴𝐷 dinner at the Rayne house tonight, which wasn't anything too out of the ordinary. Eddie was over quite a lot since he and his uncle didn't exactly have five star meals every night. Thomas and Mary had become so acclimated to Eddie being there that they usually planned for five instead of four. It took some time for Wesley and Eddie to get along and they still don't, but now they seemed to get along in a different sense, in a way that only Jacqueline ever noticed.
Steve had been a more frequent guest recently. Thomas and Mary didn't know much about the Harrington household, but they knew that every instance they had a conversation with Steve's father, they disliked him just a little bit more each time. He always was coming up with unique ways to insult their daughter.
Steve was perfectly fine, however. They knew he was a nice boy and clearly made Jacqueline very happy. They were willing to do anything for that girl, especially with how they felt they abandoned her. Steve was welcome over anytime.
After dinner, Jacqueline and Wesley were sparring outside. Wesley was still on his way to becoming a published writer, but he cared about his twin sister's future more than his own. After what she had been through, the kind of life she was being forced to live for the rest of her life, Wesley wanted her to have the opportunity to help people, follow her passions. Jacqueline almost lost her life, giving it up to medical research unwillingly and almost dying in those Upside Down tunnels to save everyone. Now that Jacqueline wanted to be a police officer just like her mom, Wesley had no hesitation to help her prepare.
Jacqueline wanted to show Steve the progress she had made since last time he saw, however, it wasn't going too well. While Steve was smoking, leaning against the back railing, he watched as Jacqueline stayed stuck in a headlock, courtesy of her brother.
"You told me you were getting better, but I'm having a hard time believing you." Steve teased lightheartedly, but that was all the motivation she needed. Jacqueline elbowed Wesley in the stomach just hard enough where he would let go of his grip. She was able to slip out of his grasp and use this opportunity to grab his arm and flip him onto his back.
