Aelia laid in bed, going over her kids' homework. She wasn't allowed any paperwork, and she didn't have any more books to read so this was the next best thing.
A knock on her door made her look up, "Denny." Aelia smiled, closing Liam's homework folder as the man wheeled himself further into her room. "What are you doing here?"
Denny smiled at her, stopping next to the bed, "I heard you were the one who saved me."
"Me?" Aelia asked, shocked, shaking her head "I've been in this bed for, I don't know three days, now. How did I save you?"
"Well Chief Webber told me you were the one who warned doctors about what could have happened. And they found those little notes you jotted down in my chart just in time to stop me from dying because of a blood clot."
Aelia smiled, "Well I am very happy you are still with us."
"So am I." Denny smiled, "I heard Stevens got fired."
"Yeah." Aelia sighed, she still couldn't believe Stevens was that stupid to cut a wire, even if she was with Denny. "Bright side, you can date her now."
Denny brows furrowed, a frown crossing his face, "Stevens thought we had something?" Aelia nodded, that's what Stevens was giving off. Denny shook his head, "I knew something was wrong with her. I have a girlfriend, who I love." Denny smiled, his body relaxing at just the thought of his girl.
"Awe." Aelia smiled, happy Stevens wasn't going to be with him. "Where is she?" From what she knows, no girl has been with Denny.
"Currently overseas."
"Ah, got it." Aelia nodded.
"So the reason I came here wasn't just to see how you are, how are you by the way?"
Aelia laughed a little, "Getting better. They got me on some different pain meds, so I'll be fine." It hurt to move too much, so Aelia was keeping in bed unless someone was here with her to help.
"Good." Denny nodded, when he heard she got shot he felt awful for the young woman. He's glad she's doing better, "I came here to give you something." Denny handed over a white crisp envelope .
Aelia grabbed it confused "What's this?"
"Open it."
Aelia gave him a look, but opened it with a little struggle with one hand, she pulled out a paper with furrowed brows before her mouth dropped "Denny..." She trailed off, looking at Denny who smiled. "Denny what is this?"
"A check."
"A check." Aelia repeated, "Denny this is... 8.7 million dollars."
"I know."
"8.7 million."
"Yes. 8.7 million."
"Why?"
"Because," Denny smiled, "You were my doctor of all three times. That's how many times you've been on my case." Aelia nodded, she wasn't on Cardio a whole lot so she didn't get to be on Denny case a lot, only three times before she was switched off, "And you caught more things in those three times then the other doctors have. You wrote everything down, you made sure people could find it, you gave me a chance. More than anyone else, so... 8.7 million dollars."
"Denny can this money can..." Aelia swallowed, she could feel her eyes stinging a little, "Thank you." This money could do so many things, for both her family and the hospital.
"No thank you," Denny smiled, "Because of you, I get more time." Denny was pushed to the first name on the list to get a heart. "I get to spend the rest of my life with my girl. So thank you."
Aelia smiled, "I am very glad."

Mark, walking through the hall, dressed in his dark navy scrubs and white coat, he stopped in front of Aelia's door. He arrived last night, too late to see Aelia, and had a meeting with Richard to finish the transfer paperwork. Now he finally had time to see Aelia.
"Knock, knock." Mark said, poking his head in, smiling at Aelia.
Aelia sat up, quickly, wincing when she pulled on her stitches. "Woah, be careful." Mark scolded her, gently pushing her back down.
"Sorry," Aelia smiled, laying down, "When did you get in?" Aelia asked.
"Last night." Mark told her, taking a seat "I would have come by then, but I thought I'd let you rest and spend some time with your family."
Aelia hummed, eyes dragging over Mark's body, smiling when she finally took notice of the scrubs. "I see you've officially started here." Aelia tried to keep the happiness of having her new friend (read: Crush) working and living here.
"I have." Mark smiled, just as happy to be working here with Derek and Aelia. He might not like interns but Aelia and Alex have been some of the best ones he's worked with, Meredith coming in third. "And once you're back, you will be the first on my service."
"Good." Aelia laughed, wincing again.
Mark sat up worried, "You okay?" He asked, eyes already scanning the monitors, looking for any changes.
"I'm fine, just a little pain in my stomach." Aelia told him, resting her hand on her stomach.
Mark nodded, looking over Aelia's injuries. Her arm was in a sling, that was the only noticeable thing to show Aelia was hurt, the bullet wound hidden under her hospital gown. Mark might not be able to see the bullet wounds but he could guess how they looked.
He's seen bullet wounds, every doctor has, but he hates that he could picture it on Aelia. He never, ever wanted her to know what it felt like when you were shot with a bullet. He's seen the damage one bullet could do. Aelia was hit by two. Mark didn't know what Aelia would go through now, but he knew he would be there for her through it all.

Short chapter. Next chapter, Aelia would be back at the hospital, on light work. Yes Denny is alive and gave her the money. Aelia caught on that Denny could have problems if he ever got a new heart and wrote it in his chart. A nurse caught it and watched Denny, making sure he stayed alive.
Mark is here to stay!!!!
