"This patient?" Garou asked, curious.
"Maruboshi Kosuke," Kitayama said quietly.
"Officially listed as a genin, but he was a legendary jonin in all but name.""His left leg shattered during a mission. Too many bone fragments. With Lady Tsunade gone, no one in the medical division had the precision to treat it. We had no choice but to amputate."
She sighed. "If we'd had this technique back then… maybe things would've been different."
Garou's expression was serious now. "Do we have any upcoming surgeries that might benefit from it? I'd like to assist."
"We get cases like that every so often. Just wait."
He didn't have to wait long.
---
The very next day, Kitayama brought him into the surgical theater.
He wasn't allowed to operate, yet.
This was just to acclimate him to the surgical environment. To stand alongside professionals, observe, and understand the pressure firsthand.
Not everyone was thrilled.
The team leader of the medical division, Hanpo, a senior above even Kitayama, was especially skeptical. But when she dropped the Hokage's name into the conversation, he begrudgingly allowed Garou to observe.
A few surgeries later, even Hanpo had to admit the kid had promise. Clumsy at first, sure, but respectful, fast with his hands, and surprisingly calm. By the second operation, he was already assisting without disrupting anyone else.
---
Two weeks passed.
Then came the case they'd been waiting for.
A chunin from the Nara clan, an anbu operative, had taken the full brunt of an explosive tag.
His left arm was pulverized. Shattered bones. Embedded debris. Torn tissue. It was bad.
"Massive fragmentation," Kitayama muttered. "We'll have to operate simultaneously or we risk losing the limb."
She glanced at Garou, hesitating.
"I'll help," he said without missing a beat.
"You?" Hanpo frowned.
Garou was definitely gifted, but this surgery was beyond dangerous. If it failed, it could scar the boy emotionally, not to mention damage their credibility.
"You can assist with chakra stabilization," Hanpo offered gently.
"I want to extract debris and align the bone fragments."
"I'll support him," Kitayama interjected, cutting Hanpo off before he could protest. Her tone made it clear.
This wasn't up for debate.
Hanpo scowled but didn't argue. He and the rest of the team had already reviewed the Chakra Needle. They knew what it could do. They just hadn't expected him to be the one wielding it.
Garou was assigned to the thigh area.
Without hesitation, he dove into the work.
Hand seals, focused breath, and the Chakra Needle ignited in his palm. His hands moved with surgical precision.
Hanpo paused, watching carefully.
This wasn't a child fumbling in a panic. Garou's expression was calm and collected.
His enhanced sensory abilities helped him pinpoint the embedded debris.
With steady, practiced movements, he began extracting the fragments and aligning bone slivers.
Time ticked by.
Soon, he had progressed from the leg up to the lower waist. His right hand wielded the Chakra Needle, slicing through muscle and isolating foreign objects.
His left hand channeled a secondary stream of chakra, less like the scalpel and more like a fine chakra suction technique, gently drawing out particles.
The room fell silent.
Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch.
They didn't notice it happening, but somewhere along the way… the boy had taken the lead.
Kitayama and Hanpo exchanged glances and silently stepped back, giving him space.
The Chakra Needle wove expertly between blood vessels and splintered bones, isolating tissue and removing shrapnel. Other medical ninjas quickly assisted, using their own chakra techniques to piece the fragments back together.
Eventually, the bone was reconstructed.
Under the soft glow of healing jutsu, the pieces fused. The tissue damage caused by the needle was minimal, already regenerating cleanly.
"All right, kid," Hanpo said at last, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Take a break. We'll handle the rest."
"…Huh?"
Garou blinked, his concentration breaking for the first time. A wave of dizziness swept over him.
"The worst of the injury was on the left side," Hanpo explained. "You've already handled the most critical work. Your chakra is almost depleted. Go rest."
His voice had softened. It wasn't just admiration anymore. It was respect.
A rare kind of respect.
'If this boy mastered healing jutsu fully… he could be the next Tsunade'
