Groundwork.

Groundwork;
Working all day just to feel the relief of pay.

Now, this could sound like some sort of field work,

I wish.

We work in the mines. We look to hopefully strike some sort of gem, but honestly, we all forgot our motivation.

Feelings are null and void down here.

I'm pretty sure half of us forgot how to even feel love, but the unanimous feel,

Emptiness.

"Why the hell do we even do this anymore?" Our oldest (by a few months), Leesol, complains.

She was usually first to complain.

I then sigh, "You know why we're down here. We need this money-"

Our youngest, Kya, then interjects, "Jiyu, I wish I literally gave more than ONE damn."

Half of us slightly jump at Kya's voice. Her voice is naturally really deep.

Through we've been with her ever since she was a little girl, it's still a jump scare.

After our slight scare, Haum then scoffs before replying, "But just IMAGINE if we struck that gem though..."

She voice then trails off, most likely a sign of her daydreaming.

"Our chances of actually finding it is zero to none.."

The group goes silent, all the girls then murmuring something along the lines of,
'there goes Sui, always ruining a mood.!'

Sui then just gets silent as well, she then rests her pickaxe on the enclosed wells of the cave, digging into her bag to then pull out her chemistry set and putting it onto the floor.

"What cha' making...~?" Leesol asks, Sui just replying,

"Boost potions."

Kya then makes the most disgusted face as she complains,

"Eugh..." She sighs, "They taste like dirt..."

I couldn't help but joke to our youngest, of course they were going to taste like dirt, we're in the mines??

"No shii, really?!" I say sarcastically, looking at all the girls who just gave me a unanimous disappointed look.

"Oh shut up, Jiyu..." The group murmured.
