"Hmm, alright. Yes, yes, I'll tell her. Okay. Bye." Kanae put down the phone, and turned toward Aoi. "So, Aoi. You'll be staying with us for a while!" She clapped her hands together; smiling widely.
"Oh! Okay! My parents.. agreed?"
"Yes! They said you needed time away from home after... yesterday."
Aoi nodded, but she knew that in reality, her parents just didn't want to see her. They probably figured leaving her with Kanae, - who they currently had problems with - would make her see how much she needed them. But Aoi didn't care. She could stay with the nicest person in the neighborhood!
"Okay, but can I ask, who that is?" Aoi pointed toward the girl sitting on the porch.
She had a cute side ponytail, with a butterfly clip that matched Kanae's. She had sat there for the last 10 minutes, looking at people passing by.
"That's Kanao! She's our adopted sister! She'll be really quiet at first, but once she warms up to you, you'll be best friends! I just know it!"
"Alright, if you say so." Aoi still felt that 'Kanao' was weird. She thought it was strange that she just sat there all the time. Instead of doing something useful. Whatever, Aoi would be helpful.
"What should I clean? Or should I do the laundry? Whatever you need," Aoi declared. Kanae looked surprised.
"I was actually going to take everybody on an outing. We're going bowling!"
Aoi was stunned. Her parents never took her anywhere like that. They thought it was useless, and that Aoi should just focus on studying. She was visibly shaking with excitement as she, Kanae, and Kanao got in the car and drove to the place.
