A short glance down at my phone is all I need to confirm that Sakura had hung up. My attention is back on the road as I swallow hard at the reality of what I might find once I reach Sakura's home. I've seen death before, but a friend that's completely unrelated to my work has never even been in the line of fire before. As Sakura's house comes into view I slow my car down and park in the middle of the road, making sure I was completely blocking the route so I'd be able to grab other people's attention.

I pick up my phone from the passenger seat before jumping out of my car and looking up at the window I know to be Sakura's bedroom. I see no movement but that doesn't make me slow my pace as I run to the front door and push it open. Borderline silence greets me as I stumble into Sakura's home, my heartbeat pounding so loud I can practically hear it in my ears. My eyes dart around the room before I shut the front door behind me to make sure I'd know if the intruder or Sakura left the house.

I don't waste time looking for clues as to their whereabouts since I was certain Sakura was hiding in her room when she was calling me. My footsteps creak on the floorboards no matter how hard I try to stay quiet as I make my way towards the stairs. I glance into each of the rooms I pass by to make sure the intruder wasn't there. Just as I take my first step up the stairs I hear a loud thud from upstairs which makes me quicken my pace, almost completely foregoing my previous stealthy approach.

Sakura's room comes into view as I see her door that's slightly ajar, but no movement can be seen through the small opening. My pace doesn't slow down as I run into her room and look around instantly taking note of the towel that's lying on the floor next to the bathroom door. Before going into the bathroom I grab one of the lamps sitting on Sakura's nightstand so I had something to defend myself with. Once I had a weapon I move towards the bathroom and tighten my grip on the lamp before kicking at the door which swings open without resistance.

Quickly I raise the lamp ready to hit the intruder but I find no stranger in the bathroom. What I do find is Sakura lying motionless in the bathtub with the wire of the shower head wrapped around her throat, cutting off her airflow. I drop the lamp and rush to her side as I quickly grab her and raise her up so she wasn't being strangled to death. "I've got you. Im here now. Please just be alive" I mutter as I struggle to keep her unconscious body held up while also trying to untangle the wire around her neck.

A sigh of relief leaves my lips the moment the wire loosens enough that I can pull it off of Sakura but that relief doesn't last long. Just before I can check her pulse, a cloth goes over my mouth and nose. I feel myself get yanked back as I can't help but let go of Sakura as she slips back into the bath, safe for now so long as she's still alive. I start clawing at the hand that holds the cloth to my face in an attempt to try and free myself. "Don't fight me, I don't want to have to hurt you" the voice of the intruder speaks, to which I can recognise it as a vaguely familiar man.

With his comment I feel a light but sharp pressure at my side which stops me from trying to continue clawing at him. Instead my eyes scan the room for anything in reach that I can use to fight whoever is behind me. I spot a small bottle of perfume sitting on the side of the sink which was in my reach, so I only need a small moment to grab it without him noticing. As if the world knew what I needed, the sound of a car horn blares outside which obviously grabs the man's attention for a moment.

I subtly reach my hand out and grab the perfume bottle and hold it discreetly in my hand, just hoping that he won't notice it. "Now what did you go and do" the voice says as I start letting myself become sluggish in his grip. I shut my eyes before going completely limp as I hear the knife he was holding fall to the floor as he grabs me and holds me up. The cloth stays in place for a little longer though as I keep holding my breath, not willing to breathe whatever is on the cloth in.
