When You Were Mine (SONADOW)

"Shadow, Hun, are you okay?" Rouge asked when she walked into the office. She was late. 

"You are finally here. Finish my work too." I stood up. 

"Excuse me?" She asked, shocked. "I am not finishing your mountain of work for you." 

"Sonic hasnt responded to my messages or calls since last night, Bat." I glared at her. "Take care of it or leave it, but I am leaving." I said as I walked past her, grabbing the leather jacket before leaving. It wasn't as cold anymore, with it being the beginning of February already, but I still liked to carry the jacket. It reminded me of him. 

"Oh. Keep me updated!" She said before I chaos controlled outside Sonics house. 

I knocked on the door, but I got no response. I grew worried, so I tried calling him, and when I heard Sonics ringtone coming from inside, I looked through the living room window. Immediately panicked when I saw Sonic laying on the couch, he looked unconscious, his phone sat right beside him but he wasn't picking up. I chaos controlled inside and ran to him, instantly checking if he was alive. My mind was everywhere, angry for not being here for him, imagining the worst possible scenario. I was kneeling down beside him on the couch. 

"Shadow...?" Sonic slowly opened his eyes, then sat up as he started coughing. "What are you doing here?" He groaned and held his head. My shoulders relaxed as I looked up at him. 

"You're just sick." I muttered in relief. I got up and placed my hand on his forehead. "You had me worried, Hedgehog." I said a little angry now. "Answer your phone next time." He had a bad fever. "Why didn't you call me when you started to feel bad?" 

"I didn't want to bother you." He coughed again. "Im sorry, Shadz." He rested his head back on the couch and closed his eyes. 

I looked around and then picked him up. He tensed up and looked at me in surprise. "What are you doing?" 

"I am taking you to my place where I can take care of you." I answered as I chaos controlled us to my place, then laid him down in my bed. "Wait here while I make you something to eat." I was about to walk away when he stopped me by holding my hand. 

"Wait. You dont have to do this, Shadz." He tried to stand up, but he ended up feeling dizzy and fell back down in bed. "Ugh. Chaos, I dont want you to see me this way." He looked embarrased and worried. 

My ear flickered, understanding how he must be feeling. "Hedgehog." I crouched down to be at his level and leaned closer, kissing his forehead. "I am not going to change the way I feel for you just because you are sick." I reassured him. "Now, stop distracting me so I can get you something to eat and some medicine." He hesitated but let go of me and nodded. "Get some rest while I get everything ready. I will wake you up when I bring the food." 

He turned around, hugging my pillow as he closed his eyes. His breathing became heavy, and he was coughing a lot, causing me to worry, but it seemed to be just a cold. He would get better soon. I texted Rouge, telling her what had happened, and she told me she would finish my work so I wouldn't get in trouble. I placed my phone down as I got to the kitchen and started cutting some vegetables. 

When I was done making Sonic some soup, I walked back to my room carrying the soup, some water, and his medicine on a bed tray. I walked in and placed it on the nightstand, then placed my hand on Sonics forehead to see if he was feeling any better. I gently shook him awake, helping him sit up when he opened his eyes. 

"Here." I placed the tray on his lap. "Drink the medicine after you eat." I remained standing up and was about to walk away again when he patted the spot beside him. "I'll stay in the room if that's what you want." I said, feeling a bit uncomfortable of being in bed with him. 

"Just sit with me to watch a movie. Nothing else." He said lowly, his voice hoarse. I hesitated, but I walked to the other side of the bed and sat beside him. I handed him the control so he could pick a movie and make sure he would eat afterwards. 

"Thanks for taking care of me, I am sorry if I got you worried." Sonic said after he finished eating and drank the medicine I gave him. I grabbed the tray and put it aside so he wouldn't make a mess. 

"Next time, call me. I didn't let you keep that device for no reason. Use it whenever you need me around." I kept looking at the screen. "I mean it." 

He rested his head on my shoulder and hugged my arm, causing me to tense up a bit, but I didn't move. Before I knew it, we had both fallen asleep.

I opened my eyes slowly, hearing something close to my ear. I yawned and stretched, only to realize that something was holding me. I panicked and tensed up when I realized what was going on and looked down at Sonic, who was currently still asleep, hugging me, resting his head on my chest fur and purring unbelievably loud. I couldn't move, and my face felt like it was going to melt off. I immediately looked away and pulled the blanket up to his shoulders. I wasn't sure what to do. 

It wasn't a minute later when I remembered how we had got to this situation that I placed my hand on his forehead, checking to see if he was feeling better again. I sighed in relief when he felt normal. 

"AH!" Sonic kicked me off the bed as he panicked when he opened his eyes. I groaned and got up with a low growl. "What are you-" 

"You were the one holding me down!" I shouted back, cutting him off. 

"H-huh?!" He sat up, his blush just as dark as mine. "Oh." He looked around. "Right." He calmed down. I got up and fixed my fur, then sat back down on the bed. "I guess we both fell asleep while watching the movie." 

"Yeah." I answered. "Feeling better?" I asked, and he nodded. 

"Yeah, better than yesterday, at least." He coughed. "Still with a cough, though." He cleared his throat. "Sorry for pushing you." 

"It's fine." My mind was still on how close he had been, holding me, purring in my arms. "It's fine."
