Chapter Nine: Mistakes Made (Part II)

To continue from the last one, sometimes we forget to stay lucid even after our dream has stabilized.  This is where reality checks continue to stay important. This is how the dream stays lucid longer and you get to stick around for more time.

The seventh mistake we make when lucid dreaming is expecting to have complete control in our first few dreams. We often expect to fly within our first lucid dream but to be honest, most people don't even know how to fly or rather steer themselves while up and about. Have you ever gone to fly above those giant fans that lift you up? How easy is it to fly around or keep yourself facing one direction? Not easy at all at first. Practice makes perfect and it is more likely than not that you will struggle with steering yourself while flying or doing anything else. Have fun with it. You won't get hurt.

Eighth mistake is very common as well, as funny as it may sound, but often people try to go explore dream sex while in a lucid dream. While possible, I do highly recommend one not to have that as their sole purpose for the first 10 lucid dreams. It can come out to be a successful, rewarding experience, but sex in a lucid dream can become a whole trip and most inexperienced dreamers find the act too intense at times and often end up waking up or having a bad experience all together because the mind of the dreamer just isn't skilled enough for the situation at hand.

Ninth mistake most people commit isn't really a mistake but it would definitely help one with their abilities. Being mindful on a regular basis can boost their abilities and after one successfully lucid dreams, they believe they don't have to be mindful of their awareness in real life. Truth is, the training should never stop and even though the ability is life long, constantly training one's brain can improve and keep one's ability well and strong.
