Present day.
Cassie's POV:
"This has to be a misunderstanding." I defend my friend, Jackie. She would never do such a thing to me.
"Then why was she with Susan?" Dylan asks, eyeing me closely.
"Because... Nadia?" Nadia gives me a sympathetic look, I understand how she's feeling because I'm feeling just how she's feeling.
"This is the truth, Cass." Dylan scoffs.
"No," I protest, "she's my friend. Alright, give me one reason why she'd do that to me." I sit next to Nadia and Dylan looks away before clearing his throat.
"She knew that I'd never love her." He blurts out, like he just realized something. "Yes, she knew how much I loved you. How much I love you." He corrects himself as Nadia and I share a glance.
"What?" We say in unison.
"I remember she told me that she was in love with me."
"Jackie was in love with Dylan? And we didn't know about it?" Nadia asks, crossing her arms and sinking back in her seat.
Dylan shrugs, "she told me again, on the day you were.. you know.. She even kissed me."
Jackie kissed Dylan? She was in love with him too? What kind of a friend is she?
"She kissed you? Is that the reason why Jackie has never told us about her love life? Because she was secretly in love with you? That's insane!" Nadia pouts and I sigh, still not believing that Jackie would betray me.
"And she tried to force herself on me when you went away, I rejected her several times but she never gave up." Dylan explains and I narrow my eyes at him, realizing why Jackie suggested that I sleep with Shay when I told her that I was having a date with Dylan.
"I think he's telling the truth," Camilla's voice is heard, I turn my head to see her walking down the stairs. She sits next to Dylan and he shifts in his seat, uncomfortably.
"I found my mother with my phone, looking at the pictures she took of you and Shay on the bed, then she sent them to you." Camilla looks at Dylan who's looking too uncomfortable to not notice.
"It was your mother, and not Jackie." Nadia spits and Camilla rolls her eyes.
"Don't you get it? She manipulated my mom into doing what she wanted."
"Well, your mother is old enough to know what she was doing." I bark.
"I know that, but that's because that evil witch threatened her or something!"
"That can only mean something," I pause, "your mother has been hiding something too. That's why Jackie involved her in her dirty games."
"Cassie? You think Jackie is behind this?" Nadia asks, her voice cracking and her eyes watery.
"Yes, that's why she suggested that I sleep with Shay." I answer, looking up at Dylan's sad face.
"Let's not talk about that." He states, and I nod.
"What are we going to do?" Nadia asks as Dylan's phone vibrates in his pocket.
He brings it out and heads to the door, "two minutes." He tells me.
I impatiently wait for him, and after some minutes, he comes in with two men. One in black, with his hand tightly gripping the other man's arm. The other man has bruises all over his face, and a bleeding nose. Gosh.
"Who're these?" Camilla asks Dylan, particularly eyeing the man with bruises.
"This is the man that.." Dylan gulps hard and I totally get it.
The man who ruined my life. The one who raped me and got me pregnant. It's him.
I feel Nadia's hand gently squeezing mine, and tears well up in my eyes as the memories of that night flashes back.
He looks between Nadia and I, and it's like he already recognized me, his eyes get stuck to my face, his eyes showing nothing but regret and pity. I don't want him to pity me, he ruined my life, for money?
"Who ordered you to do it?" Dylan's voice comes out hoarse.
"Answer me!" He raises his voice as his fists connects with the man's jaw.
He falls to the ground and cries out in pain, but Dylan doesn't stop his torture, his hand tugs at the man's shirt and makes him stand to his feet, he continues beating him up and I rise to my feet and pull Dylan away before he kills him.
"Don't." He warns me. His eyes showing nothing but anger.
"Stop," my hands cup his face, I look into his eyes and he stares at the floor.
"I'm sorry." He buries his face in my neck and my heart freezes. I feel hot.
"It's alright," I manage to say, I feel a lump rising on my throat.
"No, it's not. I wasn't there to protect you, forgive me." He says softly and I gulp as I stare at the man who assaulted me, still groaning and wiping his mouth.
"Dylan, please stop." I whine. He stares into my eyes and I nod, assuring him.
"Who's your boss?" Dylan asks again, glaring at the man.
"Susan and miss Jackie." He says, his voice shaking and my heart drops to my stomach.
its really her? But why?
"Where is Susan?" Camilla angrily asks the man, who only stares at her but he doesn't reply.
"I asked you something!" Camilla yells, slapping the man's cheek, hard.
"She.. She's at the safe house." He replies.
"Where?"
"I can take you." He says but Nadia chuckles, standing in front of the man.
"You're not going to go anywhere, buddy. You're going to jail instead." She turns to face me, "I know where it is." She tells me and I nod.
"But what are we going to do about Jackie? Should we confront her and her arrested or we pretend-"
"Pretend that you still don't know anything? Crazy, she's going to jail too. Together with my Mom." Camilla replies and I nod.
"Shall we?" Nadia questions.
"Yeah, let me get Hailey. I don't want her to remain here alone."
"She'll be much safer here, Cass. You know how dangerous it will be to go with her." Dylan reasons and I shake my head in no.
"I can't leave her alone, I'm bringing her with me." I protest, "someone to call the police and send them the location to Susan's safe house."
~~~~
"Cassie? What's this place?" Hailey asks as Dylan packs his car in front of an abandoned building.
How is this abandoned building a safe house? But that doesn't matter, what matters that is that the truth is finally out and justice shall prevail.
"Stay here, okay? Don't come out, we have to take care of something." I say as Camilla, Dylan and Nadia step outside.
Hailey nods and focuses on her iPad as I step outside into the cold air. "Ready?" I ask my friends and they nod.
