It was late morning at the dining table with cluttered coffee mugs, half-eaten toast, and scattered notebooks.
Orm sat cross-legged on her chair, pen twirling between her fingers. She leaned over her notebook, scribbling fast, then quickly covered the page with her palm as Lingling leaned a little too close.
Orm shot her a mock glare. "No peeking, okay?"
Lingling smirked, sipping her coffee. "I wasn't peeking. I was... supervising."
"Supervisors don't lean over like thieves," Orm deadpanned, pushing her notebook further away.
From the living room, Darlene's happy squeals echoed as she rolled her stuffed bunny across the rug, lost in her own little game.
Lingling leaned her chin on her hand, watching Orm write, a soft smile tugging her lips. "You're taking this very seriously."
Orm's brow furrowed, tongue peeking out in concentration. "Of course. I only get one chance to make you cry in public without you getting mad at me."
Lingling laughed, shaking her head. "Oh, you'll make me cry. You always do. Even when you're not trying."
Orm glanced up, cheeks warming, then looked back down quickly, scribbling again. "Good. That's the plan then."
Lingling reached over, brushing her fingers against the back of Orm's hand. "Orm."
"Hm?" Orm mumbled, pretending to stay focused.
Lingling's voice softened, eyes shining. "Two more days. And you'll be my wife."
Orm finally looked up, her expression softening instantly. "I've always been yours, Ling. The papers and rings are just... proof for the world."
Lingling's heart stuttered. She squeezed Orm's hand, whispering, "Still, I can't wait to hear you say it in front of everyone."
Orm squeezed back, a little smirk forming. "Then you better not cry so much that you miss half of what I wrote."
Lingling laughed again, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "No promises."
Behind them, Darlene toddled over, clutching her bunny and looking curious. "Mama, Mommy... writing?"
Orm scooped her up onto her lap, kissing her messy hair. "Yes, baby. We're writing something very special."
Darlene blinked at the notebook, then pressed her bunny against it. "Bunny help."
Lingling chuckled, snapping a quick photo in her phone. "Perfect. Our vows now have official bunny approval."
Orm sighed dramatically but couldn't hide her grin. She kissed Darlene's head, then met Lingling's eyes across the table. "Best wedding prep ever."
Orm balanced Darlene easily on her hip as she moved around the living room, the little girl babbling happily about her bunny. Lingling slipped up behind them, sliding her arms around Orm's waist, chin resting on her shoulder.
Orm chuckled. "Ohhh, both of you need to be babied, I see."
Lingling kissed the curve of her shoulder softly. "Well... can you put Darlene down so you can baby me instead?"
Orm arched a brow, pretending to frown. "Are you competing with the real baby?"
Lingling smirked, eyes glinting. "Maybe. Can I get an extended baby session?"
