After declaring his position in the council, Jungkook didn’t stay for the lingering whispers. He knew what his words had carved into those stone walls—fear, awe, obedience. Without another glance, he took Taehyung’s hand and led him out, his aura still clinging to the chamber like smoke that refused to fade.

The walk back to Taehyung’s mansion was silent, heavy with the weight of revelations and unspoken fears. The streets parted for them. Alphas lowered their heads; omegas pressed themselves against the walls. Everyone knew now—the enigma had claimed what was his.

Once they arrived, Jungkook lingered at the entrance. His thumb brushed over Taehyung’s knuckles with a gentleness that contrasted the ruthless dominance he had displayed in the council.

“Little love,” he murmured, brushing Taehyung’s forehead with a kiss, “I’ll come at night to meet you. Don’t wander to the forest alone, hm?”

Taehyung’s hand tugged desperately at his sleeve, his eyes glassy. “Kookie… don’t leave, please.”

Jungkook’s gaze softened, his crimson irises dimming back into their deep black. He pulled Taehyung into a firm embrace, one hand cradling the back of his head. “I’ll come back, I promise. Don’t worry, little love—no one can harm you. Not while I breathe.”

Taehyung clung tighter, burying his face into Jungkook’s chest before nodding reluctantly. “Okay, Kookie.”

Jungkook exhaled, reluctant to let go, when a sharp voice shattered the fragile moment.

“Taehyung!”

The sound cut like a whip. Jungkook turned sharply, stepping protectively behind Taehyung as a woman stormed out of the mansion doors. Her presence was cold, regal, but venomous—Taehyung’s mother.

Her eyes burned with disdain the moment they landed on her son. “What did you do in the council, you brat? You always find a way to bring shame to this family!”

Taehyung flinched instinctively, the echo of years under her voice pressing down on him. But this time… he didn’t cower. He forced his spine straight, his fingers trembling, but his chin lifted.

“Mother… I-I did nothing wrong,” Taehyung replied softly, though his voice trembled at the edges.

“Nothing wrong?” she snapped, her face twisting with fury. “You rejected Yoongi. Do you understand what humiliation you’ve dragged onto us? Onto me?!”

Taehyung swallowed hard, shaking but refusing to bow. “Mother… he doesn’t love me. He loves someone else. Just as I… love someone else.”

Her eyes widened in rage. “Love? Love? Don’t speak of such disgraceful things! Love is weakness, Taehyung! It ruins bloodlines, destroys honor. You’ve shamed me by choosing—”

Before she could spew another word, Jungkook stepped forward. His aura was subtle but sharp, a quiet warning that prickled the skin. “I know you’re his mother,” Jungkook said, voice dangerously calm, “but still, try to talk to him with respect.”

Her eyes snapped to him, brimming with contempt. “And who the hell are you to teach me respect? You low-life parasite.”

She raised her hand as if to strike Taehyung across the face. But before her palm could land, Taehyung’s hand shot up, gripping her wrist tightly. His chest heaved, his lips trembling, but his voice broke through—angry, strong.

“Stop it, Mother. Stop it right now!”

For a moment, the air went still. Even she looked shocked by the resistance.

Taehyung’s voice shook but carried steel. “He is my mate. I’m bonded with him. You have no right to insult him. I will not tolerate a single word against him that isn’t respect.”

“You—ungrateful brat!” she spat, yanking her arm back.

“Call me whatever you want,” Taehyung said, his eyes glistening but unwavering, “but dare to speak against my love, my mate, and I won’t stop him from giving you consequences.”

Her lips curled, mocking. “Consequences? What can this low-life possibly do?”

The air shifted instantly. Jungkook’s presence poured like poison into the space, thick and suffocating. He stepped forward, his crimson eyes igniting like embers, his voice dropping into a growl.

“This ‘low-life’ is your true leader,” Taehyung’s voice cut in, fiery, laced with pride. “And you’d better start respecting him.”

Her face went pale. “Impossible… It can’t be… He can’t be our leader…”

“Enough,” Jungkook’s growl thundered, rattling the walls of the mansion. His eyes glowed blood-red, and his aura slammed into the room like a storm wind.

Taehyung’s mother staggered back, trembling.

“I will show no mercy if you dare to harm my mate,” Jungkook declared, every word sharp as a blade. “When the ceremony is complete, Taehyung will be my Luna, and your leader. Until then—speak to him with the respect he deserves. Or I will teach you what it means to cross me.”

His voice wasn’t loud—it didn’t need to be. The weight of it crushed the air, seeped into the bones. Even the house seemed to shiver under the enigma’s wrath.

Taehyung’s mother stared at her son, shocked into silence. For years, she had seen him as fragile, obedient, someone she could mold and control. But standing before her now was a man aflame, backed by the most powerful being their world had ever known.

And she realized with horror—Taehyung wasn’t bending anymore.

“Y-you…” her voice faltered, trembling as her gaze darted between them. “You… truly bonded him? You, Taehyung?”

Taehyung lifted his chin, though tears shimmered in his eyes. “Yes. And I don’t regret it.” His voice cracked but held firm. “For once, I chose for myself. For once, I chose love.”

His mother’s lips parted, but no words came. The fire in Taehyung’s eyes was one she had never seen before. It was his father’s determination, his grandmother’s spirit—a legacy she thought she had stamped out of him.

Jungkook’s aura dimmed slightly as he placed a protective hand on Taehyung’s shoulder, steadying him.

“Until the day of the ceremony, he remains here,” Jungkook said, his voice once again calm but carrying the weight of unshakable authority. “But know this—his place is by my side. He is your Luna. And if you can’t accept that…”

His eyes flared crimson again, a chilling smile tugging at his lips. “…then I’ll make you accept it.”

The silence that followed was deafening. Taehyung’s mother’s chest rose and fell rapidly, her mask of control cracking.

For the first time in his life, Taehyung saw fear in her eyes.

And for the first time in his life… he felt free.
