Problem: Computer won't turn on
Solution: Make certain computer is plugged in, plugs are tight, monitor is connected. Make sure outlet is live by plugging something else into it.
Problem: Computer is frozen.
Solution: Hold the Ctrl, Alt, and Del keys down all at the same time. If this works, go to the task manager and then to the applications tab. Then stop the program which is frozen. If this doesn't work, reboot the computer.
Problem: Computer runs, but the screen is dark or fuzzy.
Solution: Make certain the monitor cable is connected securely. Make certain the monitor is turned on and has power connected. Right click on the screen to reset the resolution.
Problem: Computer fan is noisy.
Solution: Unplug the computer. Take the case off and vacuum dust and dirt out of the case and fan. If the noise continues replace the fan.
Problem: Computer won't boot up.
Solution: Unplug the computer. Put a Windows installation disk in the CD drive,plug the computer in and turn it on. Boot up from the Windows CD and reinstall windows.
Problem: Computer makes noises.
Solution: Unplug the computer. Take the case off and vacuum dust and dirt out of the case and fan. If the noise continues try to hear if the noise is the fan. If it is, replace the fan. If it is coming from somewhere else, back up all your data and then go to "Windows start", "run", "cmd" to the DOS prompt. Then run the CHKDSK command from the DOS prompt. If the CHKDSK run shows errors, replace the hard drive.
Problem: Computer overheats
Solution: Unplug the computer. Take the case off and vacuum dust and dirt out of the case and fan. Make certain the cooling holes are not blocked by anything. If the problem continues, install a more powerful fan or replace the computer.
Problem: Replacing hard drive
Solution: Format the hard drive to remove any data. Unplug the computer. Take the case off and remove the old hard drive and install the new drive. Format the new drive if it is not preformatted.
