I grabbed my watch and my phone, and exited out of my room.

"Stop lying. I would ask who you're trying to impress, but that would be a dumb question."
"What you mean?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.
"Everyone knows you wanna catch Kelly's attention tonight. You been tryna fuck for like what, 4 years?" Chris said.
"Man, you stupid," I replied.
"But am I lying?" he chuckled.
"Whatever nigga. You ready to go?"
"Yeah, but we taking your car," he said. "We all know that there's a high chance I won't be coming back sober."
When Chris and I entered the venue, we were instantly hit by a very live atmosphere. Music was blasting, and everyone had a drink in their hand. Whether they were dancing or mingling, an alcoholic beverage accompanied them. I saw many familiar faces, mostly famous. Everyone was clearly ready for 2016.
"It's lit!" Chris exclaimed. "Where the drinks and the bitches at?" I chuckled and shook my head. We began walking around the venue, looking for somewhere to sit. Chris had already snatched a drink from the platter a waiter was bringing to a table. This nigga doesn't waste anytime getting drunk.
"Ayo, Light-Bright! R&Beast-Face!" I heard someone shout. We turned and saw Kevin at a table calling us over. We made our way to the table and dapped him up.
"What's good nigga?!" I said. We then walked over to Kevin's fiancée, Eniko, and greeted her as well.
"How you doing Eniko? You looking fine tonight," Chris said as we sat down. Eniko laughed and Kevin shot Chris the meanest glare.
"Aye brightie, watch yo damn self. I will not hesitate to beat your banana split head ass," he snapped.
"You ain't gon do shiiiiiit," Chris replied, mocking one of Kevin's signature lines. We all laughed and starting conversing.
Suddenly, La La walked over to the podium where the microphone was. "Okay y'all, it's the moment we've all been waiting for. My co-host is finally here! Her ass is late as hell." As soon as I heard this, my head instantly shot up. I damn near broke my neck tryna see where Kelly was gonna enter from.
Just then, Kelly finally walked into the venue, and it was as if everything around me stopped. She looked amazing. The gold dress she was wearing hugged her in all the right places. Even though the lights were dimmed, her beautiful skin still glistened from afar. She looked like chocolate in a gold wrapper. And just like a chocolate bar, I wanted to unwrap the gold and enjoy what was underneath. The feelings I have for this woman never went away. I noticed that a man was walking very closely behind her, which puzzled me. Who the fuck is that?
"Shit," I heard Chris mumble. "There go your girl."
Kelly walked up to the podium and waved at all the guests. "Yes y'all, I was late but I'm here now," she giggled.
"Yeah cause you always want to make a grand entrance," La La commented.
"Let me live, La," she groaned, causing some laughter from the audience. "Alright beautiful people, enjoy your night!" she stepped off the podium and began to go around greeting guests.
"Go say hi," Chris whispered, nudging me.
"Naw, I gotta wait till she comes here. How i'ma look, being desperate and going up to her?"
"Man you sound like a high school ass nigga crushing on a girl that don't know he exists. This is Kelly we're talking about, y'all go way back."
"Yeah, but I don't wanna look too eager..." I stopped talking mid-sentence when I noticed Kelly approaching our table. Now I ain't the type to get sweaty and clammy hands when it comes to women, but I'm not gonna lie, she lowkey made a nigga's heart skip a beat. I couldn't help but stare as she walked over. Thank God she hasn't noticed me yet.
"Hey y'all!" she exclaimed when she arrived. She took turns greeting and hugging everyone, getting to me last.
"TREY!" she screamed, running to me and hugging me tight. "It's been so long, I missed you!"
"I've missed you too Kelly," I replied, smiling real wide. "You look...damn...I have no words."
"Oh, stop," she giggled. "Look at you though! Looking extra, extra handsome."
"I try," I chuckled.
"Eniko, girl how is the wedding planning going for you?" Kelly asked.
"Girl, shit's stressful. Kevin is so damn stubborn, we can't ever agree on anything."
"So you gon' talk about me like I ain't even here?" Kevin snapped. Eniko gave him a light smack upside the head.
"Anyways," she laughed. "What about you Kelly? Have you and Tim decided on a wedding date yet?"
What? What is she talking about?
"Wedding date?" I interrupted.
"Oh, shit! I forgot to tell you," Kelly gasped. "I've been engaged since February." She held out her left hand and showcased her engagement ring. I instantly felt something in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't believe what I just heard and I didn't know how to react.
"W-wow...Um, congratulations Kelendria, I'm really happy for you," I managed to say.
"Thank you Trey, I appreciate that a lot," she said, smiling.
"Kelly. Bey and Jay have just arrived, they're looking for you," I heard someone say behind me. I turned around and there her nigga was, standing right in front of me. He had to be at least six inches shorter than me. This is the nigga that she's settling for?
"Alright, thank you baby," she replied, walking over to him and kissing his cheek. Baby? Yeah, this nigga looks like a damn baby. "Tim, lemme introduce you to someone. Tim, this is Trey. Trey, this is my fiancé, Tim."
I barely made eye contact as I half-assed a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Trey. I love your music," Tim complimented.
"Nice to meet you as well," I mumbled. "And thanks man, I appreciate it."
"I gotta go greet Bey and Jay," Kelly announced. "Trey, how long are you gonna be in town for?"
"About another week," I replied, faking a smile.
"Great! We should definitely catch up before you leave," she beamed. "I'm really glad you're here, Trey. Enjoy the party!"
Little does she know, I ain't bout to be enjoying shit. Lord knows I wanted to leave this party and lock myself in my hotel room, but I gotta drive Chris drunk ass. I have no choice but to babysit this one glass of champagne and start the new year off in my feelings. ----------------------------- What y'all think of this chapter?
