Talon:
I grabbed Penny by the hand and we ran off the dance floor. I tried my best to blend in with the crowd of dancing people. Claw spotted us, apparently, because he immediately stopped his search for Johnson and began his mission to get away from us.
I started sprinting as fast as I could and hoped that Penny was following me. I checked out of the corner of my eye, and she wasn't there but I kept running. "So... What's your strategy, then?" She said from right beside me, scaring the living daylights out of me.
"Working with the enemy has its virtues. I know his weaknesses and weakspots, I know where to hit, when to do it and how." I said and turned the same corner that my enemy took.
We were running around the castle halls and Penny and I were starting to catch up. Once, Penny tripped over her dress.
She fell forward, but used it to her advantage and rolled when she was supposed to fall. In the process, the skirt part of her dress tore off to reveal the cotton pants she had on underneath.
I was, and still am, amazed by this girl. For a split second, I lost myself in the way she looked when she ran. Her hair was flowing behind her like a braided golden river.
I snapped myself out of the daydream and focused on the man we were chasing. He suddenly grabbed a lit candle and threw it on the carpet that lined the castle floors. The carpet caught on fire, and our target was getting away.
I stopped at the carpet. "Keep going, I'll catch up! I can't let the castle burn to the ground." I said to Penny and ripped off a tapestry from the wall. "Okay, but hurry!" She shouted over shoulder, resuming her chase.
I smouldered the fire by whipping the tapestry over the flames with all my might. After the light died out, I rolled the carpet into a cylinder, just to be safe. Adrenaline rushed through my being, making me feel powerful and ready to face anyone.
I started running the way I saw Penny disappear. I followed my instinct, and the faint smell of a rusty metal hook. I turned left, and down the hall was a figure that I couldn't quite identify. As I came closer, I saw that it was in fact Penny, lying down on her side.
I realised that she was unconcious. I slid onto my knees as I reached her. I picked up her head and studied it. A big knob was forming on the side of her forehead, and I could see that it was from a blow with a blunt object.
Suddenly, before I could react, a wooden plank slammed me in the face, the force and velocity of the impact causing me to black out.
The moment before I lost conciousness, I heard his voice talking to someone. "Take him and the girl to my ship." And then I could remember nothing further, as I slipped into the oblivion of my subconciousness.
I woke up several hours later, with a slightly familiar rocking feeling, as if I was on a ship. My eyes opened, and I found out that I was on a ship.
"They're awake!" A large man said from above me. I felt a presence next to me on the wooden floor, and she was awake as well.
I sat up, mentally preparing myself for what may come. Just then, did I spot doctor Claw amongst the pirates. "Well then! Time to set things right! We have a lot to talk about..." He said with his signature sinister smile.
A/N: so sorry for the short chapter! But I promise that it becomes really really good from here!
