Chapter Seven-- The Ring

"Heads up," I called to Legolas as I threw my knife at him. He caught it with ease, and threw it right back at me. I ducked to the side of it, and it hit the wall right behind my head.

I nodded, "Not bad, for a Woodland elf."

"Was that an insult?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

I smiled, "Quite possibly, yes."

His face got suddenly became series, and he took a few steps closers to me, close enough that he could crunch his hands through my hair and caress my face.

"Have I ever told you just how beautiful you are? More fair, I think, than even the Lady Galadriel," he said to me.

Just as I was about to respond, the door to the training room flew open and Legolas quickly stepped away. The Woodland elves weren't as smart as my people, I could tell. They hasn't even guessed about our relationship and Elrond made it seem like everyone in Rivendell knew.

"Legolas," the elf said. "There's been sighting of dwarfs in our forest. They've been interrupting our feasts and trampling through our forest."

"More?" Legolas asked.

I turned to him, "What do you mean more?"

"We found a lone dwarf just yesterday."

I rolled my eyes, it had to be Thorin. Cocky jerk.

I picked up my bow from the table next to me, and looked up at him. "Well, are we going or not?"

You could say after about a month of staying with the Woodland elves that I'd gotten a bit more freedom, because I had. I'd grown to actually really like Thranduil, he was actually a nice and wise elf when he wasn't considering killing you.

As I ran through the forest with Legolas and some more of the Woodland elves, the worries I'd tried to hold back came back full force. How was Gandalf? Was Kili ok? Is Bilbo still with the rest of the group? I was so worried about them when I heard about the dwarfs I didn't even think about how much trouble it might get me in.

Legolas skidded to a halt in front of me, and held up his hand for us to be quite. Then I heard it, the voices of twelve arguing dwarfs and one hobbit. I peaked out from behind the tree and saw all of them standing there except for Thorin and Gandalf. Not that I actually thought Gandalf would come in Mirkwood, he had other things to attend to. Like the Necromancer for example.

Legolas knocked an arrow in his bow, and the rest of us followed suit. He nodded, and we sprang on them, surrounding them with our bows. I made sure to keep my head sadly behind Legolas's.

"Don't think I won't kill you dwarf," he spat at them.

I hit him lightly, and I heard him let out a sigh.

"These are your dwarfs?" He hissed.

"Yeah, amazing aren't they?"

I could feel him rolling his eyes as he ordered the elves to tie up the dwarfs, who gave up without a fight.

I looked through them, mentally checking off each dwarf in my head. I found no Bilbo, who I'd seen all but a minute ago.

My eyes scanned the forest as they started to lead the dwarfs back to their stronghold.

"Something wrong?" Legolas asked me.

I shook my head, "No, nothing. Lets go, but remember, they can't see me until the time is right."
