"A place for everything, Everything in its place." Benjamin Franklin

Melrose's POV

"A-are you okay?" I ask hesitantly. Col and I are still standing in the hall and fire is dancing in Braeden's amber eyes. It's a little scary how his eyes can do that, but I'm trying to keep Colin's words in mind. Braeden might not be as bad of a person as I've made him seem.

Braeden runs his hand across his face before looking back. "No I was about to go to sleep actually," he says with a lot of crankiness in his voice. Braeden gives me and Col his full attention and I'm slightly sympathetic toward him. I know his journey from the Fire kingdom with his sister wasn't an easy one but that's no reason for Braeden to be so rude to me.

"Sorry for disturbing you during your nap time, Prince," I reply with a smirk. I just couldn't resist.

Braeden glares at me and Col finally clears his throat to say, "We would like to invite you and your sister to a tour of the island. Wouldn't you like to know more about where you are, Prince Braeden?"

Braeden raises a suspicious eyebrow and seems to be thinking things over. It's a simple question so I don't know why it's taking him so long to answer. It can't be that Braeden doesn't trust us because if we wanted him dead we could have done that a long time ago. Braeden opens the door a little wider before stepping to the side.

"We would love to go. Just step inside while I wake Desiree," he says.

With my hand gripping Colin's arm, the two of us step into the room. I'm expecting Princess Desiree to be under the covers and maybe snoring, but I couldn't be more incorrect. Princess Desiree is kneeling on the bed with her palms upward and resting a little above her knees. Her head is forward and she's perfectly balanced. Princess Desiree's eyes are closed and her breathing is steady.

I turn to Braeden and ask, "You sleep like this?"

Surprisingly, Braeden laughs before walking closer to Princess Desiree and he says, "No I sleep with a few girls next to me who whisper my name all night."

I roll my eyes at his comment and that makes Braeden chuckle. It's deep and something stirs within me. I have to bite my lip so I don't end up smiling. I will not give him the satisfaction.

Changing the subject, Colin asks, "So what is she doing?"

Braeden extends his hands toward Princess Desiree as he explains, "Absorbing as much heat as possible. It's a form of meditation." Colin and I nod as if we understand and I think I get the concept. What Princess Desiree is doing isn't any different than what we Water Elementals do when we meditate under the water, preferably while sitting on the ocean floor. It is usually very relaxing.

I watch in amazement as a pale reddish orange aura slowly creeps away from Princess Desiree and toward Braeden. He doesn't seem strained in the slightest. It doesn't even look like he's focusing because his eyes keep landing on different things in the room. Is he really that good of a Fire Elemental?
