Officer Terrance Chase
The radio in the cruiser crackled, irritating my partner; officer Chainey. I was paired with her for the day only and I never wanted to be paired with this woman again. She was a Caucasian woman who never wanted to do her job, and when she did she locked people up for no reason. The dispatcher voice boomed through the radio, making Chainey sigh in frustration as I listened to the lady speak. "10-1, respond to your unit. I repeat, 10-1" the operators voice said.
I picked up my Walky-talky, bringing it to my lips to speak. "10-1 responding, officer Chase here. What's the situation?" I spoke into the receiver.
"Officer chase there's a 17 over in Garden Heights, the address is 4379 Forrest Dr. SW Newark 58311 Apt. 27B. Do you copy 10-1?" The dispatcher questioned.
"10-4, received. On my way." I replied before silence took over the car again. I started the vehicle before typing the address into the built in GPA system.
"Thanks, thanks a lot Chase for ruining my peaceful night." Chainey said to me. Her glassy blue eyes were squinted at me and she looked irritated.
"Chainey I'm just as tired as you. Our shift is over in 45 minutes, why not do this last call? And you did hear her calling out our location right? 10-1 is our location so we had to respond." I responded with annoyance in my voice.
Chainey mugged me and grunted before turning her head and looking out the window. I shook my head before driving over to Garden heights.
Garden heights was a ghetto, dirty neighborhood and I could understand why Chainey didn't want to come here considering she was white and practically racist. She almost had a fit when we were assigned to this area, but I didn't care so much. It was my job, I had to do it.
5 minutes later I was pulling into the apartments. Crackheads was outside talking to eachother, and old men sat at tables drinking beer and playing dominoes. Little children lined the streets playing jump rope and hopscotch and woman barbecued and danced along to the music.
Chainey looked at everyone in disgust. "This is pure filth, the people, the things there doing, the clothes there wearing and the apartments they stay in." She said.
"Yeah well some people aren't as fortunate as you." I replied, before I pulled in front of building 27 and turned my car off. I quickly hopped out the car and walking up the stairs until I got to door B. Immediately I heard the commotion coming from inside.
Before I could knock the door flew open and a lady with a pink bonnet on and a busted lip was standing there. Her eye was bruised and she looked to be in her middle 20s.
"Officer lock his ass up!" She shouted, pointing at a young boy who had scratches all over his bare chest and neck that was exposed. He had a red bandana wrapped around his head and he looked angry.
"Calm down mam, can I step inside?" I asked, as Chainey walked up next to me, her keys jiggling. The lady nodded and me and Chainey walked into the small livingroom.
"What seems to be the problem?" Chainey asked looking around the house. The living room had one sofa facing a huge fat tv. The tv had a portrait of a black lady and a black man naked over it and in the back of the couch was a lot of tapes lined against the wall.
