He finds out you were in a car accident
It was very early in the morning, at least 1:40 ish, and you were driving home from the hospital at where your sister just gave birth. You texted your boyfriend, Dave, saying, "leaving the hospital now, see you soon"
Meanwhile, Dave read your text in speculation, every time you stay out later than usual, he immediately assumes that you were cheating on him. It was ridiculous, and he knew that too, but since his last girlfriend cheated on him late in the night, he was insecure and was always so scared of losing you. He felt kinda relived when you checked in every once in a while, but he couldn't wait for you to get home.
It was dark as the radio played music you couldn't recognize but you still tapped your fingers to the best on the steering wheel. You were such a safe driver, you even taught yourself to sneeze with your eyes open on the road so you didn't take your eyes off the road for even the slightest second. There were only a few other cars on the highway but it seemed as if they were getting smaller and smaller as they sped away from your direction, but it was like a sudden movement when a deer jumped out in the road, causing you to jerk your steering wheel right so you could try and safely swerve off of the road, but the steering wheel locked as you ran off the road, causing you to crash harshly into a tree. You screamed and screamed hoping someone would come and help but your hope was fading and so was our vision as the last thing you saw was your bloody face in the rear view mirror.
3:16 A.M.
Dave sat on the couch, livid with anger but also succumbed with sadness. He immediately assumed the worst, betrayal, but the last thing to come to his mind was that you were slowly dying on the side of highway 54. He quietly did the math in his head that if you were to leave from the hospital at 1:43 like you said you were, you should've been home at 2:24 but with traffic, maybe 2:38.
Dave sighed and rubbed his face as he felt useless, he didn't know what to do and you weren't picking up your phone after he called you 26 times, he counted every time he heard your sweet voice through the voice mail. He missed you so much. Without thinking, he grabbed his keys off the side table by the front door and headed outside to his car. Dave took every backroad towards the hospital you were at and arrived in less than thirty minutes. He hurried to the front desk before he saw the most horrendous thing. You.
Nurses ran in saying that everyone needed to clear the hall as this young lady was dying. Dave stood there in shock, inspecting the woman, but as soon as he saw the exact promise ring on her left hand, he yelled, "That's my girlfriend!" And before he could stop himself, tears were streaming down his face. How could he be so stupid, while he was angry due to his false accusations, you needed him more than anything and he wasn't there. He hated himself more than life itself, the security guards held him back otherwise he would've chased the nurses and doctors down, he just wanted to see your beautiful face. He wanted to whisper in your ear that everything would be okay and he would be there for you, but instead his mouth was dry and so were his cheeks as the doctors said that your pulse was slowing down before you were wheeled into a room. Dave fell to the floor in defeat, and just sobbed but no tears came.
