a month of being independent and living by herself abien learned a lot. she felt like a real adult and since calum wasn't acting like one he was.. forgotten to her.
abien had come to a conclusion that calum was not worth it. he'd never be in love with her. he said all that shit just to get to her.
she decided to move on for the better. and when she heard that a smart, handsome senior that sometimes helped teach with her professor thought she was beautiful she knew she could.
his name was andre barrington. he had plans on being a news anchor for cnn, claiming it was a dream since he was younger. since he was a senior it wouldn't be too far from that dream happening. the workers were already excited for him to start.
he caught up to her one day as she was leaving campus and invited her to a dinner with him. abien of course said yes because she didn't want to reject him.
so here they were, chatting in a cafe before abien would go back to her apartment.
"so you've never been there?" andre question, raising his eyebrow.
abien shook her head, smiling at the boy before her. "nope." they were discussing different places they'd been, wondering if each other had been there before.
he nodded understandingly and smiled at her. "we'll have to go one day."
"are you serious?" she questioned.
"hell yeah, you better be up for it too." he tilted his head, raising an eyebrow at her.
"i will." she laughed.
"good. so you're majoring in african american studies and stuff? how come?"
"yeah, honestly i wanted to be a photographer or something like that but i came to a conclusion that i really love teaching and learning about cultures and things like that." she shrugged, every word rolling off her tongue perfectly.
"that's pretty cute." he told her, nodding his head.
"thanks." abien giggled, blushing slightly from it.
"you're like just pretty cute period." andre laughed then grinned at her.
"andre?"
"yeah?"
"you're making me blush and i don't do that easily. stop that." abien laughed, burrowing her face in her hands.
"i'm sorry! how could i resist, you know?"
"mhmm."
"there's this perfect girl in front of me, this place is nearly packed and you make it seem like we're the only ones in here, and ugh it's lit right now." andre beamed with a smile on his face. abien thought he was just downright adorable. she had no idea what to say so she just gave him a genuine smile.
"so tell me, what's your family like?" he requested.
"uh, it's just my parents and i. i don't have any siblings." abien explained. she thought of how fond calum was about her parents and mentally frowned to herself. everything made her think of calum and she hated it. "how about you?"
"my parents are happily together and i have two siblings, a brother and a sister." andre told her.
"that must be fun." she laughed softly.
"mhm. being here with you is much more fun though." he honeyed her.
abien rolled her eyes playfully at the dazzling boy in front of her. "oh for sure."
