"Hi!" I opened the door to greet my neighbor, a woman in her late thirties, a good friend of my mother's. As she stepped inside the house, I gave each of her small children a wave and a wide grin, and instantly the three of them clung to my leg with excitement.

"Hey, (y/n), I'll be back to pick them up in a couple hours," their mother told me as she readjusted her purse on her shoulder, "thanks again! And be good to her you guys," she winked at her kids before I shut the door.

Babysitting was something I did on weekends, and although these kids often got a bit wild, I needed the money. Calum, the oldest of the three, yet still only six years old, with dark hair and dark eyes, was the first to speak, "What are we doing today?"

"Well, I was thinking we could make cookies, or watch a movie or something. What do you guys want to do?" I picked up the second child, Rachel, and rested her against my hips. The five year old had thin blonde hair, pulled up into a ponytail with rosy cheeks.

"I want to play with trucks!" The youngest, Ethan, shouted, pressing his hands together and grinning madly. The small three year old quickly ran up the stairs, knowing exactly where I kept the toy trucks, cars, and other figurines that he loved so dearly.

"Okay," I chuckled as Rachel wiggled out of my grip, her and Calum both following quickly after their youngest brother.

Two hours had passed by and the house began to get more noisy as the kids screamed and shouted, often fighting over toys, and there was simply nothing I could do to get them to behave. The doorbell rang and my heart raced with excitement as I assumed it was their mother who had returned to pick them up.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" My eyes widened in surprise as Shawn stood at my doorstep, a bag of food in his hand and his guitar case slung over his shoulders.

"I just wanted to see you, I figured you'd be home and I wanted to stop by," he smiled, handing me the bag of food. The noise from the children grew louder and I heard stomps down the stairs, and three voices screaming "Shawn!" in unison.

"Hey, little man!" Shawn knelt down on one knee as Ethan ran into his embrace, wrapping his arms around Shawn's torso. The other children followed, all clinging to his arms.

"Hi, Shawn," Rachel squealed, running her small hand through Shawn's quiff.

"Hi, honey," he smiled, hugging her tightly while she giggled.

"Shawn, are you here to babysit us too?" Calum asked with wide eyes and a toothy grin, folding his hands in front of him.

"Actually, I came to see my princess but I wouldn't mind hanging with you guys," he smiled, glancing over at me while my cheeks simply heated up at his nickname.

"I thought I was your princess," Rachel pouted, crossing her arms over each other and staring Shawn in the eye.

"I'm sorry, baby girl, you are my princess, my one and only princess," he chuckled, picking her up. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder with a content look on her face.

"Good, 'cause you are my only boyfriend and I even have a special gift for you since our boyfriend and girlfriend anniversary is soon," she exclaimed while Shawn followed me into the living room, Rachel still clung to his body.

"Hm, is that so?" Shawn asked, while both Calum and Ethan trailed behind him. The house was quiet, something I seldom heard when these kids were around.

"Yeah," Rachel smiled, now looking him in the eyes, both of her small, pudgy hands resting on the sides of his face, "do you wanna know what it is?"

Shawn nodded. "It's a kiss!" She said, giggling while she pecked Shawn's left cheek, blushing madly after she had given him her gift.

"Wow, thank you!" Shawn smiled, softly kissing her cheek back, "there's my anniversary gift for you, princess."

Rachel simply giggled, hiding her blushing face in the crook of Shawn's neck as he smoothed out the fabric of her baby pink dress, still holding her in his arms.

"Shawn, Shawn, Shawn, can you please play your guitar for us?" Calum begged, tugging on the leg of his black skinny jeans.

"Of course," he smiled, setting Rachel back down on the hardwood floor, and taking a seat on the leather couch in the living room. He pulled out his guitar from the matte black case it rested in, positioning it against his chest. He began to strum a few chords softly as I took a seat on his right side, gently tracing patterns on his back with the tip of my index finger, resting my head on his shoulder.

The three kids sat on the floor before him, staring up in awe as Shawn played his guitar. The soothing sounds erupted from each string, quieting the children.

"You know, baby, I was just thinking," I whispered quietly enough for only Shawn to hear, while the kids continued to watch him, utterly mesmerized by the way his fingers played the instrument.

"What were you thinking about, love?"

"Us. Our future. You know, seeing you handle these kids so well makes me so happy and I just know you're going to be such a great father one day," I gently pressed my lips to his neck as he smiled, turning his head to me.

"I can't wait."
