Unsteady ? Jasper Hale [2]

TEN; HOME

"Its times like these that make me wish I could sleep." Cassadee said as they walked through the airport. "That was the longest fourteen hours of my life."

"I didn't think it was that bad." Bella said as Edward practically carried her.

"Says the human that can sleep." Cassadee retorted. She was never a fan of planes before turning and the fact that she was practically indestructible did not change that in the slightest.

"You would think that fourteen hours would calm you down." Alice said from beside Cassadee. "I'm still surprised they let us leave since Cassie almost killed Felix."

"He shouldn't have tried to kill my sister." Cassadee pointed out.

"He didn't stand a chance." Edward spoke for the first time before looking at the eldest Swan. "Again, thank you."

"You act like I did that for you." Cassadee rolled her eyes. "She may be your girlfriend but she's my sister, she's the reason I did any of this."

"You would do it for us though." Alice smiled knowingly at Cassadee. "If we couldn't do it ourselves."

"Obviously," Cassadee stated, as if it wasn't the most obvious thing in the world. "As annoying as Edward may be at times, you guys are still my family."

"I'm glad you feel that way because the rest of the family is waiting for us." Alice said just before the Cullen's came into view.

Cassadee had seen Jasper first, he didn't take his golden eyes off her as the group made their way to the vampires. She quickly decided that she would greet him last, if at all. If she were to greet him then it would obviously take the longest.

"I heard you almost took down the Volturi guard." Emmett greeted Cassadee with his usual wide smile.

"I wouldn't go that far." Cassadee laughed when Emmett hugged her, quickly picking her up and spinning her around before putting her back on her feet and letting go of her.

"I would." Alice chimed in, "If Aro weren't there they would be dead."

"You are one tough little newborn." Emmett ruffled Cassadee's hair, much to her dismay. "I'm going to call you Badass Cass from now on."

"As long as you put it on a shirt." Cassadee laughed before moving onto Rosalie, well she had meant to go to Esme but Rosalie stopped her.

"I'm sorry, for everything." Rosalie apologized before hugging Cassadee, awkwardly in Cassadee's opinion, but she reciprocated nonetheless. She didn't know exactly what the blonde was apologizing for aside from maybe giving her the cold shoulder at times.

"Welcome back." Esme gave a Cassadee a sympathetic smile before pulling her into a hug. "I'm glad to see Alice's vision was wrong."

Cassadee couldn't help but smile at the motherly figure. "Thanks, I am, too." She moved onto Carlisle, who didn't say much except that he was glad she was okay and gave her a hug. The vampire doctor had been like a second father to Cassadee, aside from maybe Billy, the whole Cullen clan had been a second family to her. She didn't know if they were staying or just coming to get Alice and Edward, but Cassadee didn't care. If they were going to leave again then she was glad that she would see them one last time.

Cassadee was torn to say the least when she turned to Jasper. She was happy to see him but she was also angry. She missed him, yet she didn't. She had finally gotten over him and he had just returned to her life – it didn't matter if it was for a moment or not –it was like pouring salt on an open wound. Cassadee was almost positive she had never been so conflicted in her life. She slowly walked over to the empath as she contemplated what to do. She would either slap or kiss him. Probably both. She felt the familiar heartbreaking feeling when she saw the look on his face; a look of sorrow, regret, and pain all in one. The brunette stood in front of the blond before her hand connected with his cheek, the sound of the slap echoing through the mostly empty airport.
