The shimmering silver bodies drifted through the slow river. Icewing stared at them intently, making sure her shadow wasn't over the water. Like a bolt of lightning, she reached for one of the fish and pulled it out with satisfaction. It was a fairly large trout. She dragged it back to their makeshift den under a bush. "Nice catch!" Pebblefoot purred. "Thanks." Icewing replied. They shared it in silence, trying to keep their presence a secret. Graymist and Grasspelt are dead. We are the last Riverclan cats here. Icewing realized sadly. She shook the thought away, wishing that they had asked them to team. Pebblefoot and Icewing had seen the battle with Ferretclaw and Grasspelt, for it was in the same valley as them. They had stood there, frozen in fear that the Shadowclan warriors would see them hiding under a clump of ferns. No cat had any chance against them. She fell asleep, dreaming about being attacked by everyone in the games.
She woke up with a start. She looked around, terrified, for a moment and then realized she was under the bush, next to Pebblefoot, who was sleeping. She padded outside and stretched her tired limbs. The dawn light just peeked out for over the mountains on the horizon. If this wasn't a bloody fight to the death, this place would actually be quite beautiful. she thought while looking around in the stillness before sunrise. Pebblefoot padded out to join her. "Good morning!" he greeted. "Good morning!" Icewing replied. They sat there waiting until the sun rose.
Pebblefoot scented the air. "Do you smell that?" he asked. Icewing scented the air. "Yeah, smoke. I-is there a fire?" she asked nervously and looked around. She saw smoke coming from a neighboring valley, somewhat near the Cornucopia. "There it is!" Icewing meowed with relief, "It's too far away to reach us." She turned back around and saw the sun was fully up. They both swiveled their ears to the sound of three explosions in the distance.
