Chapter 24- Our first job (Harper)

It took us weeks to prepare fully after deciding being superheros in a small insignificant town would be pointless and headed for London. When we arrived we had to establish a new base which consisted in staying in a new hotel each night but then we had access to the technology we needed to find the perfect crime. It needed to be something big that would make us go down in history not just your cheesy overused bank robbery and we found it.

We were sitting in a quiet café when an emergency announcement was broadcast on the TV. "News just in a man has somehow managed to make his way to the top of big ben and is balancing precariously on the edge. We don't know who he is but he clearly seems to have plans to jump. Britain's finest negotiator is trying to talk him down but the man seems determined and quite the crowd is gathering to watch the events unfold. Sky news reporting live now back to you in the studio," the solemn but clearly excited woman said. This was probably the scoop of her career and she was shining with makeup and far too perky for this tragic story.

"Guys this is it," I shrieked happily causing a few people to eye us but they returned to their morning papers.

"Finally we've been carrying these clothes for weeks," Sasha said a little frantically.

"Well what are we waiting for lets go," Markus said agitated.

We rushed to the restroom and changed into our costumes dumping our old clothes and Sasha wrapped us in her invisibility cloak before rushing out. It would be quicker to fly so we took our respectable ways of getting around Sasha raising herself into the air, Charlie summoning a flock of birds who spread his weights across their backs, me taking on spirit form and Markus begrudgingly rode a dragon after we told him he couldn't stretch from building to building. It felt amazing with wind rushing through my hair I kept having to tell myself we had a job to do.

"What's the plan," Markus yelled over the wind.

"Harper and I will try and reason with him you guys might scare him off," Sash shouted back.

We sped up and London sped past us all the tourist sites becoming a blur as we flew past. It was icy cold but the sting of the cool air felt invigorating as we headed off to our first mission.

As we approached Big Ben we noticed the amount of people clogging up the streets like fat in arteries and I felt the amount of eyes on me as people pointed wildly at the 4 of us.

When we reached Big Ben the boys fell back and I landed on the ledge with the man. He was very young to my surprise only around twenty and didn't look like a crazed lunatic as I had expected.

He was tall and thin with a light amount of muscle accenting his frame and golden brown skin. His eyes were a soft blue and would have been beautiful had they not been full of pain just like his face which was pinched and tired. He had floppy blonde hair which was lank and greasy from lack of attention which matched his miss matched clothes which were creased and the shirt was buttoned up wrong. He had an air of a man who had given up, though the fact his mouth was hanging open made him look a little more excited than he would usually have been.
