Chapter 12: DESTROYA
The road grew longer as the tunnel grew darker. The rusty TransAM hummed and the wheels turned at an alarming speed as the car accelerated its way into the depths of Battery City. Party Poison was at the wheel, alone in this care driving through the underground. The underground was where most vehicles owned by Dracs and other scarecrow units entered and exited. Party Poison studied the maps Dr. Death gave him and agreed this was probably one of the quickest and safest route. Holographic poster lined the walls screaming messages at Poison.
"KEEP SMILING"
"WE"LL TAKE IT FROM HERE"
"WE CAN FIX YOU"
"LOVE IS A PILL"
Poison tried not to get distracted as he drove, keeping himself faced forward, but occasionally having a glowing sign catch him eye. The dim lights of the underground began to shine then quickly fade behind him as he'd speed by. The lights shone right on his dash where a picture of the girl was taped, just behind the steering wheel, making it easier for Poison to see. It constantly reminded him of why he was on this mission in the first place.
But his mind kept wondering.He couldn't help it but think: like only yesterday him and the others were all piled in the TransAM. He couldn't help but imagine Kobra Kid in the front seat staring out the window. He saw Fun Ghoul putting on his brown gloves and tightening them, making sure they were just right as he would hold up his gun. He pictured Jet Star tucking his shaggy hair behind his ears and adjusting the eye patch he usually wore. Then there was Poison driving, like usual. It seems like such a long time ago. All his friends had passed and Poison was the last one standing, ready to remain true to their very right: Sworn to Protect. Born to Kill
Poison focus he'd constantly tell himself.
Everything was all for her. Every breath, every smile, every tear: it was all for her. He knew he had to stick to the plan. He had to get in and get her out. He knew it wouldn't be easy but he got this feeling he wasn't't really alone after all.Then there was the light at the end of the tunnel. A tiny silhouette grew near. A tiny guard shack and two road tolls blocking his way. The time was now. A scarecrow sat in the shack, mindlessly reading his daily paper. He constantly looked up to check the tunnel roads. He wasn't expecting any sort of S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W Unit trucks for the rest of the morning so if he was to see anything, he was ordered to shoot on the scene. He was paranoid. He swore he heard the sound of an engine but nothing in sight.
"you hear that?" asked his partner who was a drac. The scarecrow looked from his paper, this time listening closely. He heard an engine loud and clear. The drac swung himself out of the door to look outside of the shack.
"Quick! Man your station!" the drac added "Something is coming!" The scarecrow and drac both grabbed their guns. The stood fearlessly in the middle of the road as they saw a super fast TransAm drive toward them. They had both seen that TransAM.
"Is that?.." asked the drac
"NOW" demanded the scarecrow, and the two released their firing ammunition at the fast car. Poison saw the two in the distance and didn't
seemed too worried. They'd be easy to take down.Party Poison only focused his eyes more and with the hard press of the gas pedal, the TransAM sped up, straight toward the drac and scarecrow.
BOOM
Without even blinking, Party Poison had driven straight through the toll, snapping it in two. The drac and scarecrow went flying past the car and laid on the ground half dead. Party Poison only smirked a little as he checked his rear view mirror. No more fun and games. It was time to take 'em down and out. Weakly,the drac who landed next to the shack reached his hand out a red button. The alarms went off in the S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W Unit Control Room and Among The BL/Ind building.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The alarms startled the little girl as her and the tall woman walked into the control room. The tall woman rushed to the monitors and leaned over one scarecrow, watching his screen intently. The woman couldn't believe it when she saw that too familiar of a rusty TransAM screech down to the opening of the BL/Ind and come to a sudden jerked stop. Out stepped the fearless Party Poison. No mask or anything. His poorly washed out red hair glistened as it began to rain in the city. He looked right to the camera. The woman believed he had an intimidating stare indeed. He only reached for his raygun and proceeded to the building.
"Damn it" the woman murmured. The girl looked to the woman with innocent eyes as she grasped her blue ball to her chest. She was too short to see the monitors but she knew.
"Have they finally come to get me?" she said. A smile was present on her tiny face. The tall woman held back so much anger. So much rage. and how did she respond? She smiled ever so eerily then turned back to her work with the scarecrows. The girl's heart leaped, the woman's silence was obviously as sign of a loss of words. The girl was finally getting out of here.
"Watch the kid" ordered the woman to a drac. The smile had faded. "i need to go." the woman stormed out of the control room, her pulling a large remote off of the wall, pressed a large button and walked down the hall, her heels making a loud noise that slowly faded away. The girl turned to see a drac standing behind her. She looked to him who grunted,pointing her to go sit in the corner. She did as she was told, plopping on the ground with her blue ball. She stared out the glass walls of the control room and kept a look out for Fun Ghoul. Kobra Kid. Jet Star. Poison.. anybody.zzap.. zzzap... ZAP! The noises of fighting grew closer. The little girl turned to realize she was looking in the wrong direction. Through that glass automatic door, Party Poison bust through. His gun aimed, he shot the entire control room, causing all scarecrows and dracs working to fall to the floor in pitiful deaths. The room was silent except for the ringing of those alarms and the buzzing of those outdated monitors. Party Poison scanned the room, gun up and looked in the corner of the control room. There she was. It was almost like a dream as he lowered his gun to his side.
"POISON" The little girl yelped. A huge smiled crept upon her face and she threw her blue ball to the side and ran to her old friend. Party Poison, obviously out of breath, dropped to his knees and threw his gun down. His arms open wide, he pulled her in so close. Her tiny arms wrapped around his neck. Poison inhaled and closed his eyes as embraced her. It had been so long since he lost her and he finally had her again.
"Hey sweetie" he whispered.
"I missed you" she said "I knew you'd come for me.." She pulled away, Poison's arms still around her tiny torso.
"Where are the others?" she asked. Party Poison looked in her deep brown eyes.
"They had to go sweetie.." he said. "Everything we've done is all for you" Poison said strongly as he looked at the heroic child. "But in order to protect you, they had to leave, okay?" The little girl understood and nodded her head. Party Poison then instantly pulled her back in for another hug. His eyes shut again and he held onto her so tight. But an unexpected alarm sounded. Even louder than the other alarms:
"Attention. Attention. Calling Scarecrow Korse for Extermination. Calling Scarecrow Korse for Extermination" sounded the system. Party Poison's eyes flashed open. The look of fear and worry pained his eyes. But he pulled away from the girl, grabbed his raygun and stood up.
"Come on sweetie," he said as he allowed her to lead the way out of the Control Room. "Let's get out of here." Just like that, the two were making their way down the hall so that they could meet up with Dr D and the rebels. It was time to get her out and away from BL/Ind for the last time.
